When I was in ROTC I was awarded the Superior Cadet Decoration. I was wondering if this award and or others can be worn on uniforms at USMA.

Thank you for your insight!

I believe that ROTC awards have no merit when you actually commission. However, I am not sure if you can or cannot wear them at West Point.

Unless there has been a change of which I am unaware, you can't wear ROTC awards as a cadet at USMA. The only awards that can be worn are those that are USMA cadet awards and of course those earned from service in the Army or other uniformed services.

I'd reckon no. Especially, if it is an ROTC decoration. I had an ROTC device awarded to me before I attended USNA and it was unauthorized. Services even have their own rules for other service decorations (e.g. Wearing the CIB is not authorized on the USMC uniform). Also, ribbons and awards are something you shouldn't focus on as a cadet. Unless they are an award given by the larger Army, they will go away once you throw on 2LT.

No, you cannot unless it was an army specific badge, like airborne, air assault, etc. ROTC awards do not transfer over to USMA and USMA has its own USMA specific awards, like Superintendents award for excellence, Supe's award for achievement, and Recondo

No. Unless you're an ROTC CDT who earns a USMA specific award. See: ROTC CDT who attended USMA CFT, earned Recondo, then joined the class of 2027 a summer later after earning Recondo. I'm sure hilarity ensued when his Cadre realized he had Recondo without ever spending a day at USMA.
