Should I put things in the CAR as years planned/expected or years actually completed? I know it has to be verified.

For example, I'm starting my second year of XC. I haven't competed in any meets this year yet however. Should I put 1 or 2 years?

Also, I know I will letter, so should I but haven't yet because the season is just now starting so should I leave this as just the one year lettered?

Similarly, I will compete in track for the third time this spring. Should I put 3 years for "(activities 9-12)"?.

In other words, it is now my senior year, but at what points do sports and ECA's become a part of my senior year participation.

Thanks,
CB

OK...so you do not know that you will letter. You could sprain your ankle. So please don't put an anticipatory achievement on your CAR. It is unverifiable. You can always update later. However, if you have started pre-season for cross country, then you can put it down for this year.
This is the case where waiting until you have a varsity letter to submit your packet would be better...so long as your second step kit is open so you can continue to add items. However, if you have a letter from Track, then go ahead and submit because you already check that box.
You can wait to submit when school starts and the season starts for Fall sports or you start practicing during pre-season.

So for track, you put 3 years...not your senior year because you are not there yet...again, you can update when you come into season.
Hope that helps.

Thanks, I was not completely sure I could update.

I'll go ahead and do this!

So, YOU cannot update it yourself but your guidance counselor can submit additional items on your behalf.
You still have 6-7 months until the application closes, so when you finish the XTC season & earn that letter, your guidance counselor can submit an update.
If you are elected president of a club....same thing...
Best wishes, although you appear to be standing in front of Bancroft Hall in your picture. Hopefully you will reconsider your long term goals.

Go Army! Beat Navy!

Good idea, thanks.

While I am on this feed does anyone know what the protocol is for non HS Sports?

I train and compete in Submission Grappling, which I was able to list under sports. I am in effect, a team-captain ("Junior Instructor"), but the box for team captain says "varsity team captain", and I am not on a school team for this sport so there is no varsity status. Should I not list this role, or list it under special recognition and describe it in the remarks box?

Thanks

Oh no .. my kiddo input her anticipated for senior year. Who should she contact to remedy?

She can say which sports she intends to do (if it says 'Anticipated' in the directions...) but you cannot anticipate awards like a varsity letter.

I know this is a thread from last year, but it is exactly the topic I was looking to get info on. My son will be playing golf next year. In the spring, it does not begin until April, and the current Golf Coach has already told him that he will be captain next year. He chooses captain at the end of the current season. That will be well after the application deadline has passed and April seems late to be even giving updates. So since the coach committed to this, can he write captain for senior year? And roles that are already determined, but not started yet such as vice president of the class for next year or president of a club, if those have already been decided but not started yet because he's not a senior those can be listed, correct?

Great advice on personal security and privacy issues. I was a victim of identity theft in the late 1990’s due to posted information by an employer. Our manager had five locations and he put the year vacation bids on a spreadsheet with the employee full name, drivers license number, SSN, and birthdate in each of the five locations.

This was a time before identify theft is the problem it has become today. Sadly this problem never goes away for the person it affects.
