I have completed my preliminary application for C/O 2027, and received acceptance to NASS.

I have read some places that acceptance to NASS makes you an official candidate.

Based on what I have read it sounds like others have either in their NASS acceptance email or otherwise found info regarding how to access their portal and continue with the application.

I have received/found no emails on this, so when will I get my portal login and further info?

Thanks

Last year, they told us during NASS that we would received an email about becoming an official candidate after NASS was over.
I received information on how to access the portal (and candidate number) on July 10th.

So, you have plenty of time. I was in your same shoes, the waiting is hard you want to know everything immediately but it just doesn't work out that way.

I agree. There's gonna be a lot more waiting with the process, especially if you're applying to multiple academies. So hurry up and wait :)

Congrats! Did you find out today about NASS or was it earlier? Thanks!

There are many things that can be done right now to start preparing for the USNA application and MOC nominations without having access to the USNA candidate portal. I would make sure you are familiar with all aspects of both "applications." You can start planning on how many LORs you need for your MOCs - identify who will be writing the LORs, how many copies you will need - informing all stakeholders what information you will be needing from them for both applications and when, getting good "over the summer" contact information, etc.. Thus, when the door swings open, you will be set to press "go" and execute.

As others have said, there is a lot of waiting involved in the entire process - it is good to be proactive, but every now and again, consider hitting the breaks to make sure the quality of the application doesn't take a back seat to expediency. The Admissions Board doesn't typically meet until late August or September - there is no prize for getting your application completely done before then.

They were behind last year because they switched systems for the actual application so for ‘26 the portal didn’t open up for anyone until mid-July. This year it will likely start rolling sooner, but it’s safe to expect it to open sometime in the Summer.

Once it does open, as a NASS applicant some of the fields you used to apply might carry over which can speed things up in your ‘27 application process. That’s really the only advantage there though. Everyone who is ready starts their applications at the same time when the portal opens (that includes getting a candidate ID). You’re correct in that your ID and login information will be emailed to you at that time because of your existing NASS profile.

Side note. If you can take the CFA during NASS and do well, that will make your life so so so much easier later. You have time to prepare. Be ready to jump at the first opportunity you have to take it.

Congrats!
