Candidate status

In my portal, it says my status is "Candidate*." Does the asterisk have any meaning?

*When you submit your application you become a "Prospect." When USAFA processes your application you become an "Applicant." Should USAFA deem you competitive and/or you receive a nomination, you will become a "Candidate." Note that you may receive a nomination and still not be deemed competitive by USAFA.

That is the fine print found in the bottom of the Application Status Block.

Does anyone who exactly what the means? My application says candidate, so does that mean i am 3Q'd or just competitive?

It think means you have a ticket to the ball but actually getting in/being offered an appointment is a another story. The admissions board will evaluate all candidates and select who they need based on a whole person concept. Good luck.
