Hi all!

I don't know if this is common or not, but recently I have been experiencing a sharp pain in my wrist when practicing the basketball throw (specifically upon its release). Sometimes, I can also feel the pain when I do pushups, but that's only after I "hurt" it doing bb throws. It doesn't hurt doing pullups. I tried to find someone with a similar problem on this site, but didn't see any.

As of right now, I'm tentatively guessing that I'm putting incorrect pressure on my wrist when I throw the ball, but am at a loss for how to fix it (I've been following suggestions made by buff81 over on the USMA forum). In light of this pain, I have taken a break from practicing the throws and will start again in a couple days.

I don't know if this is worthy of being noted, but I just recently started practicing the throws about 2 weeks ago, and I also previously experienced mild wrist pain from over-practicing piano.

What should I do? Do you guys think it's a matter of simply strengthening my wrist (not used to throwing motion), or something more serious. I'm open to any and all suggestions! Thank you so much for reading this :)

I would go see a physical therapist. They can diagnose and give you exercises to strengthen your wrist.
