What happens if you fail one event? My son did his CFA this morning and did well on all of the events except he threw up during the mile run and got 9 min 4 seconds. Do they allow you to redo one event?

Not my area of specialty...but what I would do....is have your son, the applicant...contact his USMMA Admissions officer... and ask that very question :wiggle:

If you’re not happy with the result, you don’t need to submit it. Diagnose the issue, remedy and recover, then do it again in a week or two. The SA doesn’t need to know what happened prior to official submission. Just call the last effort a “dress rehearsal” and move on.

And no, you cannot redo just one event. CFA is meant to be done as a set. Doing one event at a time gives you an unfair advantage. It’s essentially “super scoring” and that’s not permitted.

Understand too that the USMMA CFA is pass/fail and not scored. Where did you see that this time was failing? In terms of the spectrum of acceptable scores, a 9min mile would be lower but doesn't sound like fail territory to me.

I had found somewhere on the internet a list of minimums; they are probably not "official" but it was a list I found. Can you tell me if these other scores are good enough though; he is worried about the situps too.
Basketball throw - 78'
Pull-ups - 11
Shuttle Run - 9.08 sec
Situps - 63
pushups - 54
mile run - 9 min 41 seconds (he has been usually running about 7:20 but he was nauseous this morning and threw up)

Well, he redid the CFA yesterday and improved almost all of his scores. I know that there are no minimums officially published, but do you think the mile run is passing? For all of the other events he either reached the average or surpassed it. Thanks for any advice. :)

USMMA - two "official" recorded attempts. If you fail one event, you fail the entire CFA. You will get dq'ed for sending in failing scores twice.

always a good idea to reach out to your admissions officer for your region for clarity.

No there is only one official recorded attempt. He didn't send in the first one. And I don't believe the second scores are failing. Every event is above average except for the mile run but the mile score shouldn't be failing.

Hey quick question. I did the CFA today and my scores were as follows:

Bball throw: 69’
Pull ups: 9
Shuttle run: 8.8 seconds
Crutches: 86
Push ups: 32
Mile run: 5:55

I know I failed due to my pushups (I drank too much water and threw up before) and plan to improve before my second trial. How much do you think I have to improve my push ups by?

If you do submit it, where and when do you find out if you passed?
