Two weeks ago, I received a letter from USAFA stating that my CFA performance suggests that I may have significant difficulty in the physical fitness program if appointed.

I have retaken the CFA and was looking for input on if these scores are adequate or if I should take it again.

Basketball throw-72 feet
Pull-ups-13
Shuttle Run-8.5 seconds
Crunches-85
Push-ups-75 (max)
Mile run-5 minutes 54 seconds

The weakest points in the first test were 60 crunches and 45 push-ups.

You can only submit your CFA once, unless USAFA requests a retest. If they do request a retest, do NOT submit your scores until you sure you've done your best. That said, the person testing you is volunteering their time, so make sure you do practice CFAs until you're ready for the final CFA. Then CRUSH it! If you are asking if your submitted scores are good enough, average scores are: BB throw 66ft, pull-ups 12, shuttle run 8.7 sec, crunches 84, push-ups 65, and mile run 6:43. You look great on the mile run, and above average and slightly above average on the rest. The true question, however, is did you do your best? If so, then focus on the rest of your package and do well in your ALO and nomination interviews.

Best wishes. :thumb:

You do not state whether you are male or female. The letter indeed, as well as if your CFA portal on the application opened again, suggests that you need to accomplish the CFA again. I remember when this happened to DD, the letter did not come right out and say do the CFA again. It was ambiguous at best. A call to admissions finally cleared it up for us. Dad is correct though, you should only submit when you feel you have done your best. Anything that adds to your WCS should be taken quite seriously. A point here or there could make the difference.

Thanks for the input!

I am a male and I do feel like that is the best I can do with the exception of the mile run where I could run about 20 seconds faster.

I spoke to my admissions counselor who said the CFA would reopen on my application page. It hasn't reopened so I am e-mailing him a copy of the score sheet.

I would say the scores are competitive. They look very similar to my DS, who entered with the class of 2016. He had a few more pull-ups, I think 17.
