hey everyone I took my first CFA on 11/05/2020 and I did pretty well on everything except the BBall throw and run. I was given a retake date of Dec 06 but i recently reread the letter requesting for a CFA retake and at the bottom it says if I fail again that my file will most likely be closed. Has this happened to anyone this cycle ?

I was offered a CFA Retake which is due 12/14/2020 however my letter does not contain this message? The only mention of closing my application is as follows "Currently you are not competitive for an appointment based on your CFA scores. Should you choose not to retake the CFA your file will be closed and you will not be considered for an appointment. Good Luck!"

What were your scores?

USAFA generally allows one opportunity to pass the CFA. If a candidate submits a failing score, they may be asked for one retake to pass. If they fail the retake they are done. I have not heard of anyone being given a chance for a second retake. If you know your low score areas then work on improving those.

Ditto with Stealth_81. If you are otherwise competitive and submit a failing score, you may be asked to submit a second CFA (retake). If that score is also a failing score, your file will be closed. They normally will only fail a candidate on the CFA for a failing score on the push-ups, pull-ups, sit-ups, or run. It is very rare that they will fail someone on the shuttle run or BB Throw if the four primary events are all a pass.

Your first CFA is scored and will contribute to your WCS based on performance. If you fail, the second CFA is pass/fail, and if you pass you will not receive any points on your WCS but a pass will allow you to continue in the process.

My retake is also due on December 14th, funny coincidence! I have the same message about retaking it, but I think that we still failed it and if we fail again we will still have our files closed.

would you know if there has ever been a case where a candidate has failed their CFA but was still offered an appointment?
