My DS has completed his application for WP except the CFA is pending review. Do you think his scores below a passing score? And how long do you think to hear the outcome?

Basketball throw: 71
Pull ups: 18
Shuttle run: 9.1
Sit up: 76
Push up: 64
One mile run: 7:05

They generally leave CFAs in “yellow” pending category till right before they are sent to admissions boards. I don’t know if that is a way to control the application from being “complete” or not - but that seems to be the way it has been handles in the system for two of my DS. First one was contacted pretty quickly to say he needed to repeat video for push-ups and then things lingered. Second son had results in by beginning of September but still pending and everything else done.

No one has contacted him about redoing any events since he submitted them back in September. I assume his score is nothing to worry about, and it is good to go.

If you haven’t been contacted, take that as a good sign. My DS had what appeared to be a very good CFA and it has been “Pending” since early September. DS spoke with his RC and was told this was normal and it probably would not change till his file went to the Board. I would not worry. I spoke with 10-15 others at Congressional interviews and many still had CFAs pending.

Just to add to last post: My son received the Principal nom. For USMA from our MOC and within a couple weeks he received his 2Q letter (still awaiting much delayed DoDMERB) and once his file was approved by admissions committee his CFA turned “green” And got his green check mark. Now just awaiting DoDMERB like so many others!

Do we know when the Admissions Board meets? Or how often? My son's CFA has also been pending for months (with no indication that things need to be redone), he has a Nomination, and has been qualified by DoDMERB.

I know, patience patience patience! :) As a newbie to this crazy process it's hard to understand how/why things work the way they do!

The admissions committee meets on Tuesdays (at least last year) and appointment offers came out on Fridays. I don’t know if that is still the same but I think so. The committee also can meet at other times at busy times of the admissions cycle. Last Year, in the beginning, they said they first work through LOAs that receive noms (and are 3Q), Principal noms that are 3Q, and MOC slate winners that are already 3Q, then they begin to move through to NWL and move through the geographic areas to start to fill the slots. This is an ever changing process that is similar to a three dimensional chess board. Sometimes they have to wait for someone with an LOA or principal nom. To accept / decline before they can offer to someone else or when that principal nom., slate winner, or LOA recipient gets a medical “DQ” everything moves again.

My youngest son’s CFA was yellow since early September then finally last Monday we noticed his portal change slightly, then Tuesday afternoon his CFA was green checked and he had his 2Q letter in his “official correspondence.” We are still awaiting his DoDMERB to post in his portal - now 6+ weeks after DODMETS sent it back to DODMERB but we don’t expect any issues. Stay strong and good luck! The final reward is worth the wait and there are lots of parent groups for information and support once they are at the academy.

Thank you SO much MarTac for this info! It is so appreciated! Best of luck to your son as well- Sounds like some exciting news will be heading his way soon! :)

That is absolutely a passing score. I passed with lower scores in every category except the mile. (Which was only a 6:30, and I know people who’ve passed with 7:30+)

Update to my original post as of today. His CFA status turn green and pass. The admission committe has been reviewed his file and fully qualified and placed in NWL. Is there a chance he will be receiving an appointment?

Congrats on your DS being 3Q - fully qualified. Assuming he has a nomination, there is a chance for an offer of appointment. Good luck to him.

Congratulations on a passed CFA. I was appointed to USMA class of 2027 this month and received the exact same NWL letter.
I cannot say for certain, but that letter indicates he is competitive and should be a source of encouragement, not a source of disappointment as it would be at a civilian college. Additionally, I attended SLE my junior year and still keep in close contact with some of my squad mates. Both I and my squad mate received that letter and an appointment shortly thereafter (his took about nine days, mine took closer to three weeks but it was during the holidays). Now it is just a waiting game for an official decision.

Stay optimistic and good luck!

Congrats on your appointment. He also attended the SLE last summer on the first batch of the class. I hope he will receive an offer of an appointment soon.
