CG Awards Presentation is great

Your daughter should contact Admissions and see if there is an Admissions Partner in your area. We travel to local high schools and are happy to present! If you have no luck with that route, Admissions could email you a digital copy of the script for a presentation.

Does anyone have any current/updated information on the procedure for awards presentations? My daughter's school has a baccalaureate mass at the end of May, and she would like to begin to arrange a presentation. Thank you in advance.

There is an on-line request form that needs to be filled out at least 3 weeks prior to the award ceremony.

(The academy requests that you complete the form even if you do NOT want a presentation, there is a "no thank you" section as well).

APPOINTMENT PRESENTATION REQUEST

If you know a local Admission's Partner and want them to present the appointment, you can specify him/her on the on-line form.

Otherwise, the admissions department will contact a local AP and they will contact you to arrange the details (where, when, expectations, etc).

I (and almost all APs) enjoy doing these, it might be the most enjoyable part of being an Admissions Partner.

Congrats!

Last year, for us, the time between DS appointment, and Senior Awards Night was less than three weeks. Still our APP was able to find a former USCGA grad to make the presentation on short notice. As others have mentioned it was the highlight of the night. It was worth the extra effort to get it all coordinated. :thumb:

Will the certificate be mailed as soon as the request is filled out on-line? If not, should I call the admissions office or another number to ask for it to be mailed ASAP? In DD's BFE, there was a form to fill out about the presentation, in which she did. Nowhere did it mention the on-line option. She does already have someone to present it to her and now has the script. We just need the certificate.

Thanks for your help!

The certificates (nice white hard-bound folder) are usually mailed in mid-April.

no go in NJ

Thanks to everyone for their helpful advice regarding the presentation of the appointment. We thought we were all set to move forward with this, and my daughter was going to ask a mentor who has been very helpful in the service academy admissions process to make the presentation...but...when she asked if the school would support such a presentation at the baccalaureate mass(which is an award ceremony) the answer was NO!
I was wondering if anyone else has had a similar experience? We are disappointed, to say the least, and really unsure about the reasoning behind the principal's response.

Yes, some schools explain that there is not enough time in the awards program and other make the point that if they do it for USCGA then they will have to do it for any school giving a scholarship award. Although I have never been personally told that they don't want the awards night to include a military recruitment event, I suspect that blocks a few too.
