Was suggested in the RISE event posting on Bears Den that those who have never visited the Academy are encouraged to attend, dates are June 25 - 27 (just a few days before Swearing In). DS has never visited (planned to attend April AEP), so he registered, and our family plans to go. Can anyone give a little insight into the experience - other than what is posted in the event description? Anyone else registered? TIA!

I can't speak to the event description, but I have attended many of these events. There are social events, as well as sessions. During one dinner, there were 1 or 2 soon to be swabs with their families at each table with some faculty and staff. There are sessions to learn about academics and extracurricular activities. Following RISE, there is a Sunday event open to all, with religious services and an ice cream social. Please let me know if you further questions.

Thank you so much! Yes, I was hoping to get a feel for the event. I appreciate the insight!

Yes!!! My family and I went to RISE, and we are all very glad that we went. My family has no military background whatsoever, so the program was very beneficial for all of us. It helped me feel more ready for swab summer because we got to talk to some 3/c and officers about the training objectives of swab summer. I also got to meet around 30 of my future classmates, some of who are my closest friends today. It was certainly nice to know a few people before the summer started because we definitely checked up on each other when we could. My family also said it was a very good experience for them because they were able to learn more about the Academy and swab summer from the officers and cadets in panels. They also met other parents who they kept in contact over the summer and through the academic year. The RISE program has had a 100% retention rate so far, for all classes who have had this program available to them. During the program, we got to talk to the dean of academics and the athletic director (and others that I can't remember). We learned about services available on campus and took a tour. They also took all the families on a cruise down the Thames the last day which was very nice.

Thank you all for the information! From previous forum posts about RISE I was under the impression that the program was mainly for minorities, foreign students or first generation college students so we were hesitant to register, but the program sounds like a great opportunity for ANY new cadet and their family!

THANK YOU @DeltaDogs for sharing this awesome info! RISE sounds like a very valuable experience for my soon to be cadet, and for us parents! Your response is such great reassurance that this is where we need to be on June 25. I really appreciate you taking the time to post! I did wonder about the cruise (it was a question on the registration)...what a cool thing! Thanks again!
