Chances of being placed from waitlist

My NROTC-MO Scholarship was recently awarded to a school I did not get into (Georgia Tech). I am working to see if my admission status can be reconsidered, but decided request a placement change to the Citadel. I also requested a placement change to Auburn. I was put on the waitlist for the Citadel (still waiting on Auburn). Does anyone know the chances of being taken off the scholarship waitlist for either of these colleges? Any advice is appreciated.
 
How did you find out that you were placed on a waitlist? Did it show up on your portal or did you receive an email?
