My son is applying to West Point. He took AP Biology last year and will take Chemistry this year. His Bio teacher knows him very well, but school just started and his Chemistry teacher doesn't know him at all. I know that the application asks for a reference from a Chemistry or Physics teacher, but would they accept a reference from the Biology teacher. Any thoughts?

I would call admissions to find out if they would accept a biology teacher recommendation.

I would tell your son to make the best possible first impression. Last year when I applied to West Point for the first time I had to have my senior year English teacher fill out the SOE because all of my previous English teachers either left or were let go the year after I had them. It does seem though that the curse is broken and my last teacher is still working. A good first impression is your son's best bet. Good luck to your son.

Better be a chemistry/physics teacher or you may have a lot to explain, if even possible. They may ask: why not a physics teacher?
