Based on my last discussion, parents, I think it went pretty well and I’m interested at my next topic. This one is more situated mainly for the cadets/candidates. Let’s say you are able to commission right now on the spot and all of a sudden they make you chief of staff of your respective branch. What would be the first thing you do?

Reintroduce the possible authorization of the "Gay Bomb." Act like we are secretly developing it again, with it "accidentally" leaking to the Iranians. The Iranians will freak, thinking their military could actually "become gay" by a bomb (hoping for some language barrier confusion between English and Persian). If they don't call our bluff, we can have secret diplomatic leverage over the Iranians, for they'll be in fear of chaos within their military as we all know their pretty sickly stance on the LGBTQ community. The Ayatollah won't be executing gay Iranian citizens one day and letting is slide between generals another day. We're back to nuclear disarmament talks and a more peaceful stance between the US and Iran ensues. If the Iranians do call our bluff, we actually develop and drop a "gay bomb" onto one of their bases in Iran, away from civilians. The messed up Iranian command will probably arrest/imprison/execute military members affected, which can be used as evidence for human rights violations in the UN. The US develops significant support from the international community against Tehran's stance on LGBTQ human rights, leads a coalition effort into Iran, arrests top Iranian Officials for human rights violations, and establishes new elected officials into office. Coalition Forces occupy Iranian bases temporarily, most of the world sees this as a win, and then who knows what plays out.

Note: This post got a bit reddit-y, my apologies. I just wanted to be a bit creative in my story and in no way meant to offend anyone or any group of people. I am not against the LGBTQ community, and certainly don't know enough foreign policy of the Middle East and Iran to accurately spell out how something like my scenario would play out. It's obviously wrong for the Iranians to be executing gay citizens, but I hope my post gave you all a small chuckle on how to deal with the current Iranian government if I had some influence like the CSA may have. Cheers and good luck with your scholarships everyone!

Ummmm....🤐

I didn't ask my son (too consumed with finals), but I would hope he would say something like "better chow for the enlisted people"...

Eliminate the useless waist-measurements as a component of any branch's fitness test and replace it with some actual exercise that fat people cannot easily do.

Next on the chopping block would be banning CBT's that feature some crazy lady trying to get me to play her homebrew computer games on my government laptop...

Overhaul the entire USAF service dress uniform and go back to WWII/Korean War era uniforms. Since the Army beat us to the Pinks & Greens, we would have to use AF blue, but the uniform would be of the same cut and style as the Army’s.

Also, take away McPeak’s pension for ruining the uniform in the first place.

Non-substantive: Return to the standardized naming system of ships. My recommendation is destroyers after naval/marine corps heroes, cruisers after battles, carriers after historic ships (Essex, Wasp, Enterprise, etc.). Ballistic missile submarines are the new capital ships, so keep naming them after states, and fast attack boats after cities is fairly consistent. The goal is to take out the controversial naming conventions that previous SecNavs put in.

On a more substantive note, work to either reduce operational committments to match fleet strength, or get the manning and ship levels up where continual rotations can be met. Yes, those are political decisions made by civilian leaders, but right now force levels, IMO, are the biggest issue to the Navy.
