Hornetguy- It is something I am truly interested in. It is not just something that I would do to "look good." I was just wondering if I would have enough time to get the most out of it. I understand how I may have come off the wrong way though.
Seamonkeydo- Thank you for the advice.
I joined at the beginning of sophomore year, but I am old for my age, so I was still one of the oldest cadets there. I say, by all means, join! It's been a great experience so far. If you join now, you can still go to encampment this summer, and then try to get your Mitchell (the 1/2 way point in the program, and academy admissions respects the Mitchell Award). Just work hard to get promotions and be respectful to the little kids with higher rank. It may get annoying, but just make sure you can outdo them on general knowledge and stuff and they'll respect you anyways. Join and promote!! It will help you in the long run, and is really fun. PM me if you want to know some more about some of the opportunities CAP offers, and there are a LOT of opportunities that nobody talks about at meetings.I am interested in CAP. I am a sophomore though. Would I be able to accomplish much before I graduate high school and would I be "too old" to start?
How far along in the program does one need to go to be eligible for flying?
I've seen a few cadets fly their first month. It just depends on if flights are available.
