It's now been 2 very long days since anyone's posted an appointment but CHIN UP EVERYONE! I'm feeling really good about tomorrow for everyone!!!! It's husband's birthday and - what a gift that would be...

Just wanted to throw out a quick thought as everyone is waiting for that elusive BFE. My son did get a call from his MOC on Sunday the 20th, but we still haven't gotten the BFE either. SO THEY ARE STILL OUT THERE SOMEWHERE! Don't give up yet!
 
An ALO friend just told me they had 6 declines so far in their region, people choosing UCLA, Embry, Harvard, USNA, and USMA over USAFA. So those appointment offers will go back in the pot, which is good for everyone still waiting! :thumb:

LOL And Tailwind, I'm so honored to see that you have taken my evil ways and made them your own (well, you made your son do it...chicken!) I hope he finds out that his MOC does NOT contact...that gives you a little more promise than ole VAMOM....sittin' here with my friend Pinot. But I must admit...I DO love my Swiffer! Oh, and I forgot to mention that I have not been real productive at work for the past few weeks. I think I can add that to my "ritual list".

Us too! My son has always wanted to go there, but with this intense competition they also said he was going to be considered for prep school, does anyone know if they will call or mail prep school too?::thumb:

Yea, here's a question, what about an applicant from our school with an underage for drinking and with a nomination? How doesn't that count into character or did they let the application or interviewer know? :thumbdown:

In my expert opinion....just kidding. I actually read from a moderator that prep recipient offers will probably get a TWE and then a few days later, they get the prep school offer. I've read that many times over these threads so I think that it must be at least 5% accurate. Good luck to your son....join our posse as we count down!:smile:
 
Well, don't laugh, but when I came up with my name I had to ask my husband which was better, a Tailwind or a Headwind. He said if you want to help the son, you need to be a Tailwind and PUSH HIM ALONG. Thank you VAMom for nice words! My son's big comment of the day? Mom!!! I hit a sale at Polo! 75% off some pants. Big whoop. I'm sitting here holding the world up on my head while working, pruning those yard bushes into Mickey Mouse shapes and explaining to my younger son WHY it is important to put sheets back on the bed and why I did not have him in braces/hardware for 7 years just so he could go to sleep with a piece of gum in his mouth and his ear stuck to his phone. Back to real life. Talk to y'all tomorrow.

Well, I'm not judging that one way or the other, but issues like that won't necessarily be prohibitive to an appointment because when I was trolling some of the other threads, there is one that many people commented on (parents, candidates, moderators, AND current students at the academies) and there were several current students who stated that they admitted to smoking pot on their questionnaire and they were admitted.
 
Dear stalkers...my new dear friends and "comrades" (not I'm not a communist)...I believe that after all this is over we will have to make a facebook page for the faithful stalkers...I'm alread worried about going through withdrawals...I need to continue to be in touch and have my daily laughs with ya'll...ya'll that sounds so east TN doesn't it!!! If you guys had the chance to hear my accent you would laugh very hard...I speak very couuuuuuuuntry...since I learned English here :redface:

Yes, YMG....I have already signed on to my husbands WATCH forum. I can tell you right now there's gonna be some good times goin' on here in ole Virginny. I think I'll jump on the European watch thread and escape these bonds......

I'm even not going to mention body parts...I'm a health care provider and it is quite funny...sometimes I have to leave the room and go ask another provider what the word means...my favorite is prostrate...

If the above applicant receives (and accepts) an appointment then it is likely the police background check will reveal this incident. I would imagine that if s/he didn't come clean by putting it on his application then s/he will lose their appointment. Being convicted of a crime is different than admitting a "one time" drug use....IMHO. Although I can't image either is going to help your chances of getting admitted.

YMG...I think this thread has gone a little rogue with the normal thread rules and I also think that it is unanimous that we like the occasional off topic.....it breaks up the monotony of the waiting.....ex. husband Watch forum. Seriously? A WATCH forum with like, 100000 threads. What evah do they talk about?

I grew up in a little town on the Chesapeake Bay of Virginia and there is an Olde English dialect there from the original colonists! You should hear how we say some things. Since I moved to the big city after college I've tried not to sound so odd but give me that Pinot and Lord have mercy!
