Class of 2015 - Mailbox Stalkers Club

Hello. My name is Vamom and I'm a stalker. I am greedily reading our "club newsletter" on my Crackberry in 2 pt. Size. My eyes are failing and husband pouting so see y'all later. Will phone neighbor to affirm her stalking responsibilities whilst I am away.
P. S . Brought laptop and charger. Meeting Pinot soon.

NUTZ! A BFE each of the last two days.....but not from USAFA:rolleyes:
One from University of Washington yesterday and Gonzaga University today. It is just so so crazy... I see them squeezed face down in the mailbox just sure they are the REAL bonafide BFE that legends are based on but NOOOO!
I appreciate UW and GU too but please........it is March 26th already!!!!!!!

Mom of worry free anti-stalking prospective cadet.

Nothing on Thursday or Friday.

I would suspect that the TWE coming out right now are for candidates with noms that were not deemed 3 Q. Which would be @ 1000-1200 of the candidates with noms.

Q: Aren't all candidates currently awaiting BFEs 3 Qd? Or to put it another way, if a nominated candidate wasn't 3 Qd, wouldn't the AFA have already made that information known to the candidate?

For instance, I know my son is medically qualified since he received a card from AFA (or was it DODMERB?, I forget) that he is medically qualified. No ambiguity there.

I know my son is academically qualified since his last ACT scores were deemed 'competitive' and he was able to proceed with his application (after his first go-round his junior year were deemed 'not competitive'). He has a 4.0 GPA in an excellent public HS, so I assume he is academically qualified on that count.

I know some of his CFA scores were below the mean, some were well above the mean, but we have not received any correspondence that his low scores were so low as to disqualify him.

I assume the AFA would have made that information known, but maybe not. I'm sure those low scores hurt his WCS, but if he isn't physically qualified because of his CFA, I would think that is something he would have been told.

Just wondering....

PIMA: same question, my DS status was (Complete - Candidate) for many months, then last tuesday (3/15) was (Disqualified - Complete but administratively disqualified); then last friday (3/18) changed to (Candidate - Complete), then 2 days ago (3/22) back to "complete but administratvely Disqualified). I know he retook the CFA and submitted last Friday morning, and I thought he did okay, Not selected I could take but not DQ (I would say CFA at the very least passing, because real close to average). Maybe I misunderstand the meaning of disqualified? Or could it be a clerical error, and someone put in the wrong status. Any advise I'd appreciate it.

Anyone else seeing disqualified on the Status page?
I'm just surprised that status can change so quickly, with no call or explaination

Thanks Friends for supporting me and each other

Plot thickens: Academy Counselor called twice on monday 3/14, told DS retake CFA, that his package was highly competitive; retook on friday, called Academy to confirm they had scores, Counselor said they had them; Monday 3/21 Academy Counselor calls and says "be sure and look for letter going out today and tomorrow". ALO has no idea why disqualified, Counselor has not called back (understandable with what is going on now being busy)
Strange that they would take the time for some one disqualified, why make the calls, and why raise DS hopes, any one seeing similar?
Hoping a clerical error

PIMA! As always, thanks for your great explanations!

My DS was previously told by his ALO that he was being considered for a Prep spot contingent on a med waiver...he fell in the ("not over the top" ACT scores but had a solid app otherwise) category.
He called USAFA Admissions today and was told his notification was mailed today. Unfortunately, he was also told that his medical status still showed "DQ"...Does this mean a TWE is on its way but could still get a Prep offer or never came off the DQ and made for an easy TWE recipient this year?? Wow what a ride!!!!

First nobody here with the exception of people who maybe current or former ALO's and such have much of a handle on these status updates. It is also very tough for anyone to glean too much at this point because flieger83 explained to me that they start blocking certain details from the ALO's once they get closer to the final selections.

The only person who can help you understand what is going on might well be the counselor at the USAFA. All you can do now is to enjoy your weekend and get persistent with them come Monday. Good Luck!

What next?

Found out today that MOC called someone else from our district about AFA appt. I don't think DS is competitive with the presidential nom. What next? He probably won't have a prep school offer since his test scores and gpa were good. His main problem was sports participation and the CFA.

If he decides to reapply, is it starting from scratch again? Apply for pres nom, MOC nom, new recommendations, and everything?

Thanks - I appreciate all the info and the laughs!

However a Falcon Scholar is not the same as the AFA Preppies. These students often have pretty strong academics, but are otherwise lacking or in need of additional development. So don't write off the possibility of being offered a Falcon Scholarship.

sorry to hear that denversmom! keep holding out hope though, its not over till its over! im going through my fits of uncertainty just as everyone else is. the only thing that i could see that would hold me back would be my gpa (only a 3.7 weighted) as everything else should be average to above average but yet i am yet to receive a call from my nominator or receive a BFE. going through some serious boughts of nervousness and denial up here. and because im in maine ill probably be one of the last to receive a BFE (or TWE)

After my son received his twe two years ago, my husband called the admissions director, the answer was, "His GPA and tests scores are too high for prep and they didn't count his varsity letter because he received it as a freshman in XC." Now with receiving no news about our daughter, I am stalking the mailman. As of today, I think I will give up. She received an email and has been accepted to George Washington with a scholarship. This is her tenth school w/scholarship. All these kids are going to have tough choices even without the BFE. These "young adults" are going to do great things. I rest in peace at night knowing our future country will be in great hands.

I have a qualification question as well that I hope someone can answer. DS has one low ACT score that is "starred" and labeled as not being competitive (Science). Does that automatically mean he is not 3Q'd? Just wondering if we should be expecting that TWE any day now....

After reading the posts this afternoon about how BFEs were sent today, so we won't be getting them until Monday, I was a little dissapointed since I previously thought they were sent out Tuesday. I checked the mail, of course no BFE. About an hour later, I received a call from Senator Cardin informing me that I will be receiving my appointment in the mail early next week!! The BFEs are coming; this is a prime stalking week! Good luck to everyone still waiting to hear.

Just to give you some hope, I too have a starred ACT score on the science but I have received an appointment.

So keep hanging on:thumb:

Hope that was an encouragement that you needed.

Good luck everyone!

My name is OBXmom and I'm a recovering mailbox stalker! Its been a year since my last mailbox stalking. (Not really, I did stalk during BCT for the ever elusive basic cadet letter. Tips on that at a future meeting!)
I see someone got a call from their congressman yesterday, so things are in the works.
May all of you profit at your lemonade stands today, and don't forget to check all cell phones every five minutes to make sure they're working! Don't forget to eat.
Hoping the best for all of you!

Mail gets dropped off at about 1 o'clock here...

Mattsmom2015's post is driving me crazy though:

My DS's ALO received this message this morning from the Academy and forwarded it to us:

"We are mailing offers of appointment (close to 500) and status letters for disqualified candidates (3400) this Friday. We will be mailing letters to qualified candidates who were not appointed next week."

Yikes!!

About Seven out of Eight notifications is going to be a TWE? :stretcher:

At least now I know to do my best to get a LOA next year!
