Thank you! We are bringing our three youngest sons to DC with us and hoping to take them on a tour of some of the great places they read about! Our DS and oldest of the bro's, is heading to visit Grandparent's to get "spoiled" in the warm sunshine to take it easy and not have to worry about when or if he receives a BFE!

here they say I'm ********...when they mean retired.
or yonder...over there.
or conoscopy... instead of colonoscopy...
I'm even not going to mention body parts...I'm a health care provider and it is quite funny...sometimes I have to leave the room and go ask another provider what the word means...my favorite is prostrate...
well...sorry not trying to go off track from the stalking subject...

YMG...this is for YOU! My sister just sent it to me and remembered your post. I love Bill Cosby, too!

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

My son was just watching that same video last week. Very funny.

Sadly, most of us here in the south could not figure out what was so funny!
OH, and no stalking report yet generated by neighbor. I hope I don't have to fire her.....

By the lack of excited posts today it looks like nobody got a BFE in the mail so the stalking will continue on Monday.

stalking 201

I think I've moved up in the mailbox stalkers anonymous world. This must be a "woman thing" because it reminds me of when I was younger waiting for the phone to ring after a date. After 3 kids, almost 20 years of marriage, a divorce and no time for a relationship, I don't care if anybody calls me anymore! But the mailbox....now THAT is a different subject..............

I get a break tomorrow and back on game on Monday. Cheers everyone.

Reporter checking in..........
No BFE, no TWE in mail box today. Had a couple of thin envelopes. Closed one eye, squinted and lifted them up carefully like CSI lab tech. So relieved no BAD NEWS. Immediately took 4 hour nap watching Lawrence of Arabia. House is a wreck. So is mom (me). Prayer circle hard at work.
Back to my post. Reporting back in Monday after mail call. I knew Mega Millions went to 300 million last night. Decided I would rather see my son get this BFE than win the Mega Millions.
Everybody rest till Monday. Well, go ahead and post; I like to read it. I mean.......take a break from worrying and be good to yourself. Cheers!

Tailwind Angel.... I know how you feel. Our "home team" VCU was in overtime last night for the NCAA and I was stalking on laptop. Husband started to make smart a** comment and I looked up from laptop a la Regan in "The Exorcist". Well, let's just say that THAT was the end of THAT. No need to see the head spinning, dear!

TGIS- Thank G*d it's Sunday!

We are in the northeast and I estimate it takes about 3 days for mail to arrive from Colorado. So Monday at the earliest, Wednesday at the latest for notifications to arrive. I'll post something as soon as I get it.

In the mean time, enjoy the weekend!

The only thing I can about mail box stalking..when you open it and see the BFE..your heart skips a beat..you thank the lord above.. then you try to figure out the best way to present it to your DS..then the FUN begins to let the world know your DS made it!!

I love this page! You all have me laughing, as well as, feeling my heart strings pang. I am finding that a lot of universities have changed the way they announce acceptance. (I wish the SA would catch up) The long waiting for envelopes are over. One school sent my husband and me an email telling us of our daughter's acceptance. It was a big secret.....they were sending her a text at a certain time and they wanted us ready to take a picture of her to send to them. It was a lot of fun. It was hard to keep a secret until 8:00 at night! I am glad it is Sunday, my head hurts from watching the mailbox.

Good Morning (it's still morning in CA) fellow stalkers!
OK! Since we have nothing to do but wait.... (clean the house? Oh no!) Let's banter about the best way to tell our DS/DD the BFE news (assuming we find out first.) Anyone have any great ideas? Anyone want to share how they told their appointee the news? We can all dream about the moment.

Love this one by the way!

What to do?

Good Sunday afternoon all, I am really feeling calm today since it's Sunday and the mail person is taking a break from being stalked and I am taking a break from my anxiety attacks!! Seriously, I feel relatively calm as I type on my husbands lap top driving from Northern Illinois to KY for a week. Something is seriously wrong my husband says when I need to use his broadband to check in with you all....haha....he has no idea!! The friend on the home front is on board for the stalking of the mailbox, along with prayers and good thoughts!

Telling my son....I have thought of so many idea's and I just don't know which is best. I can only think that after I faint in the street, infront of the mailbox I will have to stagger into the house while I sob for joy. Seriously...anyone have some good idea's? Happy Sunday...rest up for the week...it's going to be a great one for us all.....oh and for our canidates! :shake:

You guys are too much fun! Good luck to all.:shake:

OK gotaplay, since you asked. A little background to set the scene...
DS completed applications for USNA, USAFA, USMA and nominations paperwork fairly early. Attended SLS at West Point, rejected for SLS at USAFA, rejected to NASS. Received LOA from USNA and USAFA in early October. Invite to CVW at USNA October. Nomination interview with one Senator's staff, no interview but received noms from congressman mid December, received call from second senator's staff to confirm that DS had an LOA and a nomination already. Once this was confirmed, no interview.

So as you can see, we are members of three mailbox stalker clubs. DS, DW and yes, even I had fallen victim to the stalking craze. Whoever rounded the corner and saw other cars NOT in driveway, would accelarate, get in driveway, jump out of car (twisted ankle one evening), and make the mad dash to the mailbox. Trembling hands would gingerly open the door and squinting eyes would peek in. Heard of all the tricks like putting the letter in the freezer, steam, etc. but convinced DW that the priviledge of opening belonged to DS. (Hi intensity mag lite in a dark room reveals contents without breaking seal of envelope, TWE's only though.) Thus we were early addicts to postal worker recon. DS was fairly firm in his decision that USNA would be #1 but with a friend currently C4C at USAFA he had good insight and positive feelings that AFA would also be great. Really enjoyed SLS at USMA, but this was definitely his third choice.

Fast forward to Christmas Eve. DS(3) applicant, at work, DW and I making last minute preparations for church service and traditional family gathering on Christmas Eve. DS(1) and wife, DS(2) are helping with preparations. Multiple observations out front window had not yielded any visual acquisition of beloved/dreaded postal worker and delivery conveyance. Older siblings are wondering why parents so jumpy.
I can finally stand it no longer around noon and decided to head for the mailbox. I open the door and nearly step on a BFE, yes a BFE on Christmas Eve. Mail man had left it on the porch because it would not fit in mailbox! (Hadn't thought about that) Picked it up, turned it over and heart skipped at least four beats, it was from USNA Admissions. It was way too thick for mag lite penetration for visual confirmation so we had to assume the best. Showed DW and thought she was going to pass out. Older siblings are looking at us like we have lost our minds until they realize what is going on. We started deviant planning on how to surprise DS immediately. One of our favorite movies at Christmas is "ELF" sooo... We took the BFE, placed it in a gift box under some lingerie, wrapped it up with a tag to "Someone Special" from "Buddy the Elf". We had to wait through the afternoon, church service and opening family gifts. When we broke it out DS knew something was up, just did not know what. He opened the box, saw the lingerie, got a puzzled look, then noticed something underneath...."You jerks! How long has this been here?" We quickly told him it had just arrived that afternoon and the celebration started.
The first week in January yeided a BFE from USMA, and the second week brought the BFE from USAFA. Our stalking intensity dropped for a while after that, but it still goes on and will intensify as time approaches for the PTR to arrive.
DS, wanted to decide and send acceptance right away. I advised him to consider his options carefully and as soon as it was clear he had,( a very short wait) he signed the declines for USMA and USAFA, and sent his acceptance to USNA.
Since then our lives have had less stalking but we know the pace will pick up soon. We keep all those who have yet to find out lifted up in prayer, and are thankful to all of these wonderful young people who are willing to serve their country. :thumb:
Whether they get a BFE or a TWE at this point, I hope that you all realize what a wonderful gift these young people have offered. They will succeed, even if we don't know just where their path will lead at this point.
Stalking is not just a job, it's an adventure!:yllol:

still stalking in IN...well, sort of

We are in FL for SB. I've had horrible withdrawls from the forum. Have Grandma on high alert to check vm on home phone and stalk mb daily. She has the day off today! Found two BFE's (not "the" BFE) in the mb yesterday...other colleges with their packages for DS. When she called to inform, she told us she nearly fainted when opening the mb.

So, she'll be "back in the saddle" tomorrow. I hope this job does not impair her health!

Looking forward to some news!
Thanks for all of the intel!

Now that's what I call a well planned announcement! Kudos to you Spanky58!:thumb: And all the best to your DS at USNA!!!!

Gotaplay, I love your idea of "how we would break the news of a BFE to our kid"...
Spanky, your post will now become a Christmas Classic..."Up on the rooftop....." Love your story..

I promised the MBS forum I was signing off till Monday. I misspoke apparently. We have sort of decided what to do if the blessed BFE comes in mail......we have a younger son who adores older son. We will act like it is no big deal later in evening...ask older son to come out and "take out trash, or come eat, or blah blah...". Younger wants to be wearing a USAFA shirt of my older son's and ask if he can wear it to school sometime. Then he wants to be the one to hand him the envelope. We thought about big dinner, gather the friends, family, coaches, teachers, etc etc, but my younger son said, no, this is private, and to please let him be the one to tell his older brother. My older son cried when he got his nomination. We feel he will be so filled with emotion if he receives a BFE that he will actually almost look angry. Meaning pumping his fist, jumping up and down saying "YES YES YES" like he used to do down the football line pumping up the D and O line. Then the tears will fall. And then he will have the highest honor of personally telling his family and friends families. OH LORD LET IT HAPPEN.
