I am so sorry for the bad news bjschick! My son too received the TWE in the mail today. :redface:

Hearts are breaking all over, but the spirit you guys have cannot be broken. Take a day to reflect, regroup and grab life by the horns.

QNV in today's mail. I don't know if there is anyone left stalking waiting for some kind of response, but I will still be around and contributing until the thread goes stagnant. Now on to join the reapplying thread!
 
I too received a TWE in todays mail. Qualified, no vacancy. I am destroyed inside at the moment but I am 100% sure that the admissions board will see my name again next year. The Air Force Academy has been my dream for many years and I am going to get there one way or another! Congrats to all of those with BFE's. Off to join the reapplying thread!
 
It is unbelievable the caliber of students that are being turned away this year. We are very fortunate that our DS received an AFROTC scholarship as I understand they were extremely competitive this year as well. This just doesn't comprehend right now....

Bravo! Remember that there will be more notifications as Prep and Falcon info goes out in a couple of weeks. I hope to hear back from those people when that starts to settle out.

Well, time to take a break from stalking....it's a weird human condition. Son got the TWE today. Relief for me because at least we know something. He's expecting it...I've been preparing him for it.
Good news? Won't have to spend all that money to fly to the Academy every month to see my boy! (LOL).

Good luck to all those who are in! Just remember when they yell at you that you are getting paid for it.

For those not in....you still have lots of time to figure it out (reapply or not) and to go wherever you are meant to go.

WardNC, falconfamily and Tailwind Angel thanks for the posts. The Academy would have been great but I know that there are other places where I can be happy and fulfill my goals. This TWE means that I wont be flying fighters, but can go ahead to a liberal arts school and hopefully enter into foreign service and politics in the future. I chose my quote for a reason, gotta look at the opportunities. Now for real, bjschick signing out.
 
well...it comes to a close. I too received that TWE...QNV. Good luck to all those appointed! Rootin for u all the way!
 
Texas finally gets mail

My DS received the QNV letter today as well. He's taking it well. On to Plan B, he still says he will reapply next year. I thought retail therapy was in order, so took him shopping and bought him new shorts (his old size 34s were totally falling off his hips) and a new razor. Texas A&M Business School beckons, and it's a great place to land when the Academy has no room at the Inn this year. :thumb:
 
My TWE did not mention waitlist specifically, but did mention that I was not selected but could recieve an appointment if people decline thiers. Is that effectively their waitlist letter?
 
I was wondering the same thing. My letter stated that I would be notified immediately if a slot opens up. I don't have much hope for a slot opening up but who knows. The word "waitlist" was never mentioned.
 
Yep, like many others today, I received the QNV letter. Honestly, it hurts pretty bad for a while. You can't stay mad for long though. This whole thing is about timing; something we can't affect. The only thing we can do is improve our application to make it impossible for admissions to deny us next year.
 
What a great group my DS is in! He also rec'd the TWE saying "qualified... if an appointment opens up.... yada yada yada." He took it well. Does he automatically get put in a pool for Prep School? His DODMERB says piolot qualified... does that help?:confused:

At least its another chance....He is already talking of next year. Good sign! Wonder what the chances of the Prep and Falcon are.... Maybe if we don't stalk the mailbox our luck will change! Stinks it all happened on April fools day and it snowed in NJ today! What a day!
