Class of 2015 - Mailbox Stalkers Club

Hi everyone....even though I have joined "the re-applying club" I am staying on this thread to congratulate the BFE's and to express my heartbreak for the TWE's , of which DS was one. I feel like I know all of you and this was an amazing thread. I wish everyone's stalking could have ended w/ a BFE but there is always "next year" (which is technically in two months!?!!!!!) and hopefuly everyone has a solid plan B. It is crazy that I will be stalking again!! At least I can add PROFESSIONAL stalker to my resume now. Started at novice level........now advanced. Also, DS has has come to the realization of how fortunate he is to have Plan B given the number of waitlists and rejections that he has seen among his peer group for his Plan B...exception students who have all the accolades: GPA over 4.0, NHS, lots of EC's, most are Eagle Scouts, etc. His joy and pride at his acceptance into Plan B came a little late (after he had a chance to process the TWE). But it came....and now we move on. But I'm still here on this thread to cry and cheer with you for a little while longer. The stalking is winding down as the BFEs and TWEs dwindle. Best wishes to all who are hoping for a Prep or Falcon letter. This thread has made this an amazing experience for me, even though DS ultimately was QNV'd. And I must say, I've added more acronyms to my vocabulary in two months than in my entire life!!! So ...TTYL !
 
Still waiting

Still no news, ALO and MOC staff are waiting for news as well. Their must be a group of candidates still on the bubble. A good friend in VA has a DS in the same category.

It would be nice to know if these kids are waiting for appointment declinations from certain slates, openings do to appointments pending medical waivers, prep school concideration or some other issue. I dont know the possibilities but trying to think outloud.

I agree!! We are in Alabama and we haven't heard a thing. My son was told by his HS counselor that April 1 was the cut off date for all colleges to let the kids know what their status is....yet we wait. I highly suspect that our football cheer will be "War Eagle". Our MOC picked a principal so that left us 1other nomination and our USAFA counselor basically told us a month ago that my son's school was holding him back (guess his school isn't considered competetive enough)?
 
Hey everyone. I recieved a QNV TWE on April 1st and about three minutes later was called by my MOC to by told that I was now admitted into the USAFA! Anyway, the part that might be of some interest to all of you stalkers here is that my MOC forwarded the E-mail he recieved from the official at USAFA Admissions and it said this,

"Subject: Air Force Academy Offer of Appointment -Samuel Nathan Coen

The above named constituent is receiving an Offer of Appointment to the United States Air Force Academy. This offer supersedes any previous correspondence received by the constituent. The official notification letter will be mailed on on 7 Apr 2011."

So, April 7th might be another, however probably smaller, wave?
Anyway, good luck to you all.
 
Still waiting with no word so far at all. Although I do know the candidate who received the appointment on my MOC's nomination and that he will be turning it down shortly, and two candidates who received TWEs about a week ago.
Confused why I still haven't heard anything:rolleyes:... although I know there are others in the same boat.

Sam-IA, thanks for following up. I told your story to others in the thread earlier, I think it should give folks who are waiting a bit of a lift.

I know what QNV stands for, but what does TWE mean? This post has given us a lift...thanks for sharing.
 
So if a TWE is not good, what does an appointment offer typically come?
 
TWE means Thin White Envelope, and its a bad thing to get because it holds a letter that declines a candidate. BFE is the Big Fat Envelope that holds a letter of acceptance.
 
NW Prep School

Well we got the famous Qualified but no vacancy letter. My DS is taking it very well he is disappointed but already working on plan for re-application process. Does anyone know much about the NW Prep school in San Bernadino? He is considering going there to prepare for next year.
 
NWP

I can't say enough good things about NWP. My son went there last fall on a Falcon Scholarship. He is so much better prepared to enter USAFA in June, my husband and I think its the best thing that could have happened to him to have to wait that extra year. The Durbecks are wonderful and know what to do to prepare these kids for the Service Academies. Call and talk to Mrs D if you have any questions.

Thanks so much good to hear. Actually he left a message on Saturday and Mrs. D called us back that day. We were impressed with the fact she called us back that day. I just wanted to hear from someone like you. We called the academy today and were told he was not flagged for a scholarship because he is not pilot qualified. We are trying to find out more about that simply because he is within the height range, perfect eyesight and his sitting position measurements also are within the range. I don't want to bug the academy but want to know why he is not qualified and they said they didn't know. He actually already has his pilots license which I know doesn't really matter it is what the air force deems PQ but I would hate to think he missed out on a scholarship because of a clerical error. So your son attended last year and has been offered an appointment this year? That is AWESOME to hear. My son thinks that this year will help him become even better for next years run. Thanks again for your reference.

Hello! I attended NWP last semester as well. Myself and DjSanguine have answered many questions and listed a few facts about NWP on the Reapplying Club thread. NWP is an amazing program and place.
