Whoa! This is the type of information that this thread is meant to disseminate. Seems like it might be worthwhile to check your online status!

Mine still says candidate :frown:
If it changed that's probably good news rather than a glitch, since mine's the same

HMX! What wonderful news! Congrats on your Appointment - exciting time for you - have a wonderful week.

DenversMom - Give your kid a big hug from a fellow stalker mom, me.

Heart palpitations this morning. My daughter leaves Friday. A university is flying her out for four days to see if she likes their university. Of course, she said yes, she would visit which is a big deal for her. she NEVER misses school, she will go to school sick. Anyway, she said she would go and fly east. Now, as the day comes closer, I panicked thinking what happens when she comes off the plane and she is not what they were expecting! Silly, I know. I called the grandparents who proceeded to laugh at me. "Don't you know there is so much too her! It isn't just her high test scores. It is how she touched her community in her service to others, all the awards won in engineering at state science fairs, as well as, still achieving, pushing to get in student council when she was a new student her junior year, fighting her way back on a softball team, Never quiting." So, I took a deep breath and realized how wonderful all the potential cadets have been. I know universities will see their achievements and reward them with wonderful opportunities. It may not be the initial dream, but possibly a new one.

Good luck to your DD. I love the kids who fight through adversity (same could be said of my DS with Baseball)! There are no guarantee's in life, but there is absolute certainty in quitting.

DS recieved 2 envelopes from USAF today. The first one dated April 8 said "A medical waiver is Approved". The second letter dated April 6 said"We regret to inform you that we will not be offering you an appointment to the United States Air Force Academy this year. As you know, based on your Department of Defense Medical Examination, you do not meet medical standards for the Air Force Academy. Your record received an in-depth review by a panel of experienced Air Force Academy faculty and staff and you can take pride in having meet all of the Academy's other entrance requirements--an achievement that ensures you will succeed wherever you decide to attend college." We are at a loss. DS called his counselor to see if anything could be done. She said it took to long for the waiver to go thru and he could reapply next year. DS is trying to stay positive, he has a four year ROTC scholarship. Wish everyone left on here the best of luck. We know that their is a plan for all these exceptional young adults!

Words fail in expressing how badly I feel for your son. Perhaps a call to your MOC could secure a second look? Best wishes to you and your DS.

class 2015 has filled

I just saw that 2015 has filled..does it mean they finish evaluating all the application ?

Not filled yet. Here's what they said on facebook:

US Air Force Academy (Admissions)
Currently USAFA has filled the majority of the CLASS OF 2015. We are currently on track with our historic average with nearly 96% offers tendered. Approx 13,000 applicants competed for 1,120 spots. We are limited in size by public law and cannot appoint everyone. The application for the CLASS OF 2016 is now open. Those who wish to reapply must wait until July 1st to let the system reset.

96% of offers out...................but........................not everyone has accepted/declined their appointments yet. Sending up a little balloon of optimism for everyone waiting or hopeful. What is the deadline for accept/decline?

Ganco, I heard you. I promise you, each day gets better. It's hard to get the letter, but things look so much BRIGHTER a few days after. Things come into focus and you gain perspective. Thinking of you and your household.

May 31 I do believe

TWE arrived today. DS is taking it very well. It does get better after a few days. We talked about the reapplying/prep school scenario, and he would rather take the ROTC route. He will get where he wants to be...one road or another. Best wishes to all still waiting, we're pulling for you:smile:

Yes, just a tiny little nugget of hope. 2% of 1120 is about 23 slots. But no one knows what the number of declines are/will be....

TWA : There is going to be some really interesting weeks ahead....

TWE

My son got twe letter today,

it says we regret to inform you that we are not able to offer you an appointment to the Air Force Academy this year. Your Excellent record qualifies you for admission, but We are limited in size by public law and cannot appoint everyone who is qualified.

your record received an in-depth review by a panel of experienced Air Force Academy faculty and staff and you can take pride in having met all of the Academy's entrance requirement-- an achievement that ensures you will succeed wherever you decide to attend college. With approximately 13,000 outstanding young people competing to be among the 1120 admitted, the competition for appointments was extremly keen this year.

While the selection process is essentially complete, we will notify you immediately if you are chosen to fill a vacancy another candidate declined an appointment. In the meantime, if you are eligible, we would urge you to consider AFROTC as an avenue to an Air Force Commission. This would provide you with an opportunity to apply again, to possibly receive an additional nomination, and improve your admissions record. You should be aware that approximately 30 percent of each year's class do not enter directly from high school.

my question is , is it late to apply AFROTC ?
