Does anyone know the stats of this years applicant pool (total number of applicants/ nominations)?

I understand that these are the average values, but during an interview I was told that there were closer to 21,000 applicants this year. I just wanted to confirm this.

Not sure how anyone would have statistics nailed down for an action that is still in process

I don't think they release that information until, or after, plebe summer. That's just what I think from previous classes' portraits. By that time, that information will probably be useless to you.
