Does anyone predict that SAT/ACT scores will be lower the class of 2027, as current high school juniors have been learning with COVID since they were freshmen? Just wondering if this might impact scores as it has been more difficult to learn through the pandemic.

Thank you for your time.

I wouldn’t plan on that. If you’re aiming to be competitive for West Point you must at least meet the average ACT at 29/30. I’m not sure what the scores are like for the SAT. The best candidates reach to achieve scores 31+.

I mean some 2026 applicants lost seasons of sports, clubs, leadership, volunteer opportunities, etc. as well as had some remote learning sophomore & junior year. My son was online part his sophomore year and his entire junior year, got to take the SAT once. He still had a good enough package to get into an academy and did great on his SAT. I am sure things are taken into consideration but not expecting standards to be lowered but I am no expert. This is a situation that possibly they look and see how you handled things under these particular circumstances and were able to overcome challenges, etc. maybe talk about it in an essay if you can.

I agree 100% here with have4incali, but definitely don’t plan on any standards being lowered, they will accept the top applicants no matter what the scores are so do everything you can to be at the top. I’m regards to writing these things in an essay, I would recommend focusing on big things you over came as focusing on small little things can come make you seem as though you are wining our unable to overcome adversity in a way (advice from high school english teachers regarding all Covid related essays). Top put this into shorter terms: study hard, do your best, make any major issue or achievement known, and keep your fingers crossed.

Agree

Agree with the above. DS SAT prep course was canceled and numerous ACT and SAT tests were canceled.DS also had to do some virtual but not much. Still able to put forward a good enough package to be in the class of 2025.
