Hello! After a long journey, my DS has accepted his appointment! Whohoo!
He will soon turn in the initial forms he received in his portal but I have a question about the vaccination requirements. Has anyone received that information?
I have already printed out last year's requirements to get an idea (Thank you Capt MJ for the post!) but just wondering if anything has been changed. Thank you.

I have not heard that anyone has received their PTR packet in email - this is where you find all the info - my daughters year we got it in late April - I am sure most of the packet is the same. You can use last years as a guide.

For c/o 2027, the covid vaccine mandate was lifted so that would not be required. But I’ll wait for the official PTR to get the details.

What my son did was open a NFCU account last week (not required) but he needs an account and they have a branch on the yard for convenience. He used the form that’s on last years PTR.

If they are missing any vaccinations I highly recommend getting them before I-day. I think my DS needed 2 that we spaced out at home. Yes they will catch them up on anything they are missing but they have enough going on without having a sore shoulder or slight vaccine reaction during Plebe summer.

Absolutely will get it done before I-day. My DS is all up today but based on the information from last year he’ll still need to get another shot for polio.
Looks like Tuberculin test is required. Thinking of getting that done. Is that for every candidate?

Yes, go ahead and get the 5th polio dose and the TB blood test done.

Do you recommend the QuantiFERON-TB blood test over skin tes (PPD) and if so, it looks we can just get it done at a local lab without a doctor's order.
Trying to see which is better option.

They require the QuantiFERON test.

We called NFCU to open an acct but they told DS that he needs a military id number. Did you have to show anything stating he was an appointee?

NFCU is there during PS and will actually do it then, and you can do the direct deposit directly in the the NFCU account from there. They won't miss a paycheck.

My kid set it up the direct deposit originally to go to his usual account from home, but opened an NFCU account during the PS rush. He set up a transfer portal from our bank to it, but after a few months just moved his direct deposit to NFCU. He wanted to get the NFCU credit card, so he figured he should do most of his banking through them.

I had NFCU growing up, but shifted over to a different credit union when I got married since the other one was more local and had a lot of good benefits as well.

(Oh, and your son will soon learn that he has 4,000 financial planners who will gladly give him advice and try to get him to turn into an investment banker!).

We didn’t call. We looked at the 2022 PTR, used the application that’s on there and emailed it to the address they provided. I’m sure it’s not an issue to wait until the 2023 comes out soon but it was something to do and now one less item to check off his list.

Some advice for your DS. I went to the doctor about ~1 month before IDay to update my shots. On IDay, they make sure you fufill all these different vaccinations. Since I recently went, I only had to get 2. My friends had to get up to like 8 and had banaids all over their arms. The next day, after these shots, you get dropped, push ups, whatever. Less shots may feel better while getting screamed at to do push ups... also just feeling generally better as your DS embarks on his Plebe Summer journey! Congrats!

In 1966 my dad got vaccinated by sailors as a marine. They got their revenge, but I figured vaccinations would be part of “welcome to the academy”

My DS (d does not stand for dear in this post) properly got all of his vaccinations on time so he didn’t have to get them on iday.

Left his vaccine card at home and had to get second doses. ;)

He made it through plebe summer just fine.
