Thank you for your encouraging words ! This is new territory for me !

Someone will be providing adult supervision for your cadet for the next 4 years. They will not go to fraternity or sorority parties. They will go to class and they will be well fed.

Academically, they will have English speaking professors committed to the success of each cadet. If they get behind, they will be monitored and provided every opportunity to succeed.

The chances they will be offered illegal drugs is slim. They will be surrounded by people that for the most part are do-gooders

They will have mandatory medical and dental exams at no cost to them

They will have no bills

The gates are protected by armed guards authorized to shoot intruders.

Sending your child to a service academy is an excellent deal for parents

My sister and I went to USAFA. My daughter is a USNA graduate.

What really is there to worry about?

Thank you for your excellent points and you are right. I guess I'm just worried about my child dealing with the stress of BCT.
Thank you and your family for their service.

Thank you for the encouragement, I needed this.

Me too. I'm struggling as the initial contacts from my cadet have been very gloomy.
remember, their letters are written at a point in time - and right then things could suck, and writing down their complaints/gloominess can lift their spirits and then they move onto something else and they forget about what they wrote to you. They are not alone in their feelings of gloom but perhaps think they are as others are putting on brave faces too.

Thank you for this message. I know I'm not the only one in the situation, but it sure is hard!
