I have a question regarding the clubs and activities at West Point. Is the only opportunity to join a club or team the first week of classes? If a cadet doesn’t make a team then they have no opportunity to join another club (academic, sports, hobby, etc.)? Or do they have to wait until the next year to try and join other clubs?

Your plebe can ask his Team Leader or Squad Leader for guidance in this department.

Does anyone know about the process of joining the West Point obstacle course racing team? I saw they won the battle frog championships this past year and it seems like a fun and challenging club

My close friend just made the team, they had a single day of tryouts which about 40-50 people showed up to and 2 guys and 2 girls made it. The main thing is being well rounded and hitting pull-ups hard. The tryouts were pull-ups max out, 2 min push-ups, 2 minutes of sit-ups, and a 5k. Not sure what else was included in the mix but I'm sure there were some rope climbs as well. It's really competitive and you will need to be very fit to make it, so start now! If it makes you want to set your goals my friend can do over 25 pull-ups and almost 100 push-ups and sit-ups.

Civic29, thank you for the answer! Seems like a tough team to make... No wonder why they won the championship!
