I can't believe it's almost that time. The Class of 2021 is about to finish finals, roll into Sea Trials and climb Herndon. Before we know it, the Class of 2022 Induction Day will be here! I know there are a few threads on that subject, but I thought I'd aggregate a few bits of information.

  1. Here's my post on our I Day experience. Bottom line - your experience is the right experience but preparation is key.
  2. Here's a podcast about Plebe Year. My son sat down and talked through Plebe Summer and the academic year; he surprised me with his candor. Please note: There is an egregious error in the podcast - I said Plebe Summer lasts 9 weeks. It does not. Bottom line - if Ernest Hemmingway needed an editor, I do, too. :p Despite the error, DS gives some pretty good perspective, I think.
  3. Here's my post on how we (as a family) survived Plebe Summer. Were we overzealous? Maybe. I mean, yeah, the olives were a little over the top, I guess. But it was almost as much about getting us through Plebe Summer as our DS. This post is not a prescription, merely an example.
  4. If at all possible, plan to attend Plebe Parents Weekend.
  5. Relax. Tens of thousands of Plebes and their families have survived the first year. You will, too! Don't be afraid to ask for help or support.
Congrats & good luck!
