Should I accept my UNG application along with my 4 year Army Scholarship in case I do not receive any offers/options from USMA? After accepting, will it be bad if I decline to go to UNG along with my scholarship if I do get an appointment or other options from USMA?

Another thing to keep in mind, many schools have already advertised that they are pushing their decision days back to May 15th given the significant delays associated with the FAFSA rollout. Not every school is, but many big name schools have. Make sure you check each individual school to know when they need a decision. Note, service academies are, and will remain, May 1.

I would recommend accepting the scholarship and putting down your deposit at the school. My DS has accepted his AROTC 4 year at his #1 school and put down a deposit. If he is appointed to an academy he will lose the college deposit, but will be let out of his obligation to the ROTC scholarship.

If I'm not mistaken you have limited time to accept your AROTC Scholarship before it's rolled to the next board and given out to someone else. I would accept the scholarship to make sure you have it. I accepted my AROTC scholarship after the first board and already paid my deposit to The Citadel. It's smart to have an alternative route set up and ready to go if one of the Service Academies doesn't work out.

You can accept now or wait a little longer, but make sure you know the deadlines for UNG and the Army scholarship. Don't wait until right before the deadline - stuff happens and you don't want to miss the deadline. It will not be viewed negatively to accept one offer and later decline, as long as you observe the rules regarding deadlines.

The only downside of waiting is that it could put you further back in the cue for things like dorm space, registration, etc. Not an issue at all schools, but at some schools it is a mad scramble for resources.
