Hi, I was just wondering if anyone could clarify this ~ I am currently a re-applicant from a school that ranks comparably (academically) to USNA and took intro chemistry this semester. (If admitted) I am aware that I have to attend USNA for 4 years, however, is it possible that this class be counted at USNA or am I going to have to retake it?

Thanks for the assistance

Nothing transfers in. But you can validate and take higher level, for example.

When you validate a course, does it lower the amount of credits needed for graduation? Example: 128 credits needed to graduate but I validated a 5 credit chem class ~ Do I still need 128 credits total or is that lowered to 123?

Did you read the USNA links that were provided?

Yes I did and it was very help especially the section that mentioned the "The ability to have a lighter academic load in one or more future semester(s)". However, I wanted to confirm that means that the credits count - because "lighter academic load" entails less credits at USNA to graduate

I believe that is the correct inference. Emailing your Admissions Officer or the Admissions Office would likely answer your question for certain.

I don’t know the answer to that question, but I did google the question and this is what popped up.

Plebe year is a set schedule. It will Be tough no matter what. And even with a “lighter course load”, all the extra stuff will fill in the gaps.

Are you currently applying? What is the reason fo your question? Are you looking for a “lighter load” opportunity? Or looking to have space to double major, for example? Perhaps we can answer better, knowing what you are actually asking. And why.

You could have a B.A. degree, and you will be there 8 semesters, with a minimum course load each semester. You will move through all 4 class years with your classmates.

Validation exams will allow you to skip a course or go to an advanced section. Each department has its validation policy, found on USNA.edu .

If you are taking minimum credits each semester, you have the freedom to consider a double major, all kinds of electives, or dive into multiple ECAs.

If you do well enough, you might even be able to do VGEP. You can search for that at USNA.edu .

Good look with your re-app!
