Has there ever been a time that the Admissions board has deferred a decision and requested a college second semester GPA? i.e. The application was good in all other aspects but the GPA was less than stellar. Thank you and Merry Christmas

For this year’s cycle, the first semester is all that can be used. All application material is due way before the second semester would end.

The admissions timeline would make impractical for a SA to wait on second semester grades to make an admissions decision.

The application was good in all other aspects but the GPA was less than stellar

Define "less than stellar." What type of curriculum. A reapplicant does not have to have straight A's, but a strong academic showing in a STEM based curriculum demonstrates the ability to handle college level academics.

He received a sports scholarship to a religious liberal arts college. They have a "whole person" concept curriculum so the first semester he was given his schedule and not given the opportunity to beef it up with USNA attractive classes. He was less than inspired with his Intro to Scripture class and others, which explains his C average. He was more focused on getting on the coaches "depth" chart, which he did and will most likely be a starter. He was able to choose his spring courses and I feel he will do well with more traditional Math and Science classes. He already said he would apply again. I guess the best we could hope for now would be his strong Math/Science ACT grades get him a chance at NAPS. I hope the board can see the "whole situation" ;)
