Quick question: do we find out company assignments before we get to I Day? I've seen some advice about sending the first package a day or two before I day, but how would it be sent to me if I do not know my company yet?

Re-read your PTR. There is usually a paragraph on PS mailing address, and when you get it. I think past PTRs have said I-Day. I’m sure others will post if there are any earlier releases.

If the family has a package/mail ready to go, it’s a simple matter to go to an Annapolis P.O. and mail it on Friday. Would probably be delivered Saturday. Though there is the Main P.O. on Church Circle, the POs on Legion Ave. off West St. or over in Eastport on Chesapeake Ave. have parking lots. Or, use a USPS Priority Mail box, have it staged and ready to go at friend’s house at home, call them on I-Day as soon as you have the company/platoon numbers, send ‘em to the hometown P.O.

What I’m confused about is that apparently past PTRs have said I-Day, but I know last year the plebes got their mailing addresses before then, and some people have also said to expect it before I-Day.

I agree, once you get the plebe mailing address, you can simply drop it off at the local post office. As mentioned in prior threads, what USNA did last year (or in some prior year), isn't necessarily what they will do this year. Plebes (and their parents) will certainly be informed of the correct mailing address no later than I-day. There are probably many other things to focus on at this time than a mailing address.

Yes, a number of Plebe's parents were given company's and squads prior to I Day. HOWEVER, it was info that was not supposed to be made public. Don't expect it this year.

Last summer, we received an e-mail on June 22nd with our Plebe to Be company assignment and address. The e-mail was addressed to us as the parents. It also had other relevant I-Day info and included the dates for the three phone calls home. That e-mail was also sent to our DS two days before I-Day to his e-mail. It was from the USNA Admissions Dept. But as has been said before, it could be different this year. I also took the advice many have offered on this forum and took the first package with us and mailed from Annapolis. It worked great.
