Hello community,
I have a question regarding the difference between being a COMPETITIVE candidate and an ADMISSIBLE candidate. I was told by my FFR that I have gone from a RISK candidate to COMPETITIVE after I brought my ACT from a 25 to a 30. Is this better than being ADMISSIBLE or vise versa? Any information will be appreciated.

As I understand it, admissible is better than competitive. Good job on your ACT!

Based on what I’ve heard from my own FFR, I believe that “admissible” is one step above “competitive.”

And actually, there was a post in the nominations forum that said this: (link: https://www.serviceacademyforums.co...rmation-do-mocs-have.64248/page-2#post-694985)

ACCEPTED: Accepted offer of admission
QUALIFIED: Fully qualified, but not offered admission
ADMISSIBLE: If nominated and qualified, should get offer of admission
RISK: Standardized test scores need improvement
COMPETITIVE: If nominated and qualified, subject to type of nomination, could get offer
UNDETERMINED: Insufficient information
DECLINED: Declined an offer of admission
USMA CLOSED FILE: File closed for lack of completeness
DISQUALIFIED: Not qualified (academic, medical or CFA)
USMA SCREEN: File closed for lack of quality
OFFERED: Offered admission
CANDIDATE WITHDRAW: Candidate requested that file be closed

Admissible does not mean “should” get an appointment. A better definition would be a candidate that would become qualified if they pass medical and get a nomination.

Qualified means just that and the candidate is waiting to be slotted. They may or may not be selected.

Don’t think of these as being mutually exclusive. Most candidates will progress from competitive to admissible to qualified. A smaller group will move to offered then accepted.

Candidates do not see it on their portal... FFR might share a candidate's status to motivate them to stick with process and move quickly to complete your file. Nothing is guaranteed with an Admissible status.
