I completed my application a while back, but have been waiting patiently on a waiver for my medical DQ. I haven't heard anything and am losing hope. I've also been seeing a numerous amount of acceptances and was wanting to get an opinion on my status, do I have a chance or should I accept that it's over for me? Also, is there anything that I can do to help with the waiver process, could I possibly get another doctor's opinion? Thank you in advance.

Also, congrats to everyone who has been accepted!

I moved this from the USAFA to the DoDMERB forum for Mr. Mullen’s visibility.

Assuming you've reviewed the threads in the DoDMERB forum, if you haven't, I would recommend starting there. My understanding based on our journey through the process, is there is nothing a candidate can do until a waiver is requested on their behalf. Remember, if a waiver is NOT requested by the SA, then the DQ is not what is keeping the candidate from moving forward. If a waiver is not requested by the SA, it's because the application is lacking qualification in some other area. They will only pursue a waiver if the candidate is being considered for an appointment.

Having said that, there may be timing delays in reviewing applications, I'm not sure when you received your medical DQ or how long ago. The longer it takes though, one could assume the odds do not improve. As is often the advice on this forum - focus on your Plan B, C and D.

Now that this is in the DoDMERB forum, you may also hear from Mr. Mullen. No better point of contact than him if you have questions on the matter. Good luck!

Completed Application and Medical Disqualification" :wiggle:

I am a candidate for the class of 2025. I have a nomination and also an NROTC Scholarship. However, I received a medical disqualification because of a history of activity induced asthma. I have submitted all information that DoDMERB requested but am concerned that they seem to have asked me to provide information identical to what I had already submitted. (I have still resubmitted this information). Both of these submissions were at the request of NROTC. I believe I will receive a waiver from NROTC on the basis of medical records I provided and a breathing test I completed. My other concern is that USNA emailed me that they were not pursuing a waiver at this time. The wording was somewhat vague, but it sounded like there is the possibility that my status could be changed. What would cause them to change my status? I have additional details that I won’t go into here but which make me believe I am competitive as a candidate. Does anyone have information about why they might change my status, and is it even reasonable to think it might be possible with Notification Day just over two weeks away?

I would contact admissions and ask for clarification. If they said they are not pursuing a waiver, I take that to mean that they are not pursuing a waiver. Keep in mind that not everyone who is competitive gets a waiver. I was told when I was starting the DoDMERB Medical Process that sometimes waivers are limited and often they can not give out additional waivers after a certain number.
