computers for 2014

NOTHING beats a Mac and the new Ipads would fit he "netbook"need. The old idea of incompatibility simply is no longer true with the Intel processors.

I would refuse to consider typing notes on an Ipad.
How could possession of an Ipad be justified for a Plebe, if issued, when it's predecessor, the "Ipad Nano" (aka Ipod Touch) would simply be considered contraband?

However, I do recall seeing an Imac (to my surprise) in one of the many engineering department labs while on my Candidate Visit Weekend.
Although macs are "awesome", "cool", or have the tendency to be associated with many a positive superlative, USNA is not a regular college. Mids do not need "fancy" video editing, "sparkly" presentations, or other neat features.
The engineering-specific software load that Mids require, along with DoD network connectivity, in my opinion justifies why a Mac would not be ideal for a Mid.

If I was about to embark on the traditional college experience, I would embrace the possibility of converting to the "fruity" side. I realize that Macs are great machines, incredibly reliable and innovative, but they would not fit the needs (or price ranges) that the USNA requires.

There are NO "PC's" by any manufacturer that compare to the security, reliability and ease of use of any Mac.
"Fruity"? The Mercedes Benz of computers? LOL
