I was looking for a similar situation but could not find anyone who asked a similar question so thought I would ask it. So I am reapplying last year after hurrying to get my application last minute as USMA was late to appearing on my radar. I did not get in obviously, and plan to reapply this year and if it does not happen this year I will continue with the ROTC program I am in and join the National Guard this summer by going to basic and AIT. I am a much stronger applicant this time around (ROTC, college credits, higher SAT) but fortunately/unfortunately one of my buddies got into West Point as a conditional appointee as a track recruit. I am obviously stoked for him, but worry about where this puts me. I was told to reapply to my home district (I live in a different district for college) and this is where my buddy lives still. I saw his letter and understood that it was conditional on the basis of a couple things, including a congressional nomination. I understand there are other forms of nomination but I live in the most populated state so senator nomination is not super possible. I guess all I am asking is reapplying worth my time even with one of my congresspersons nominations spot filled? I feel like the responses I will get will be 'just apply anyway' but I am looking for a realistic answer from someone familiar with the situation so I understand what my options are. Thank you
