C/O 2014 Ceremony Livestream
Congrats to USAFA C/O 2014 indeed. If any of you are interested in watching the ceremony on livestream you can check out the link below:
Begins today around 1300ET I believe.
I just got back from watching the graduation ceremony! It was one of the most inspiring things I have ever seen in my life! The Thunderbird demonstration was INCREDIBLE!!!
Congratulations, class of 2014! Thank you for your service!!!
Joe Biden: "Jim Zimmer would be proud"
DD is Class of 2015. Wish we could have General Welsh as commencement speaker next year!
With all due respect to the last 3 speakers, blah, boring, um, uh, campaign speech, blah, Bush's fault, rambling, blah.
I was there yesterday.
I don't know if it came through on the broadcast, but when the VP cited the economy "they" inherited, there were boos and a loud rumbling of disgust throughout the stadium. Many people got up and left in protest to the entire tone of the commencement address.
I guess speaking about breaking the rules, and who could break the most rules the fastest is real funny. Mr. Biden spent about 5 minutes on this.
Sorry for the tone of my posts, but I would just like to hear something a little less political and a little more inspiring!
That's hard to fathom. Sitting in the sun for hours in order to celebrate a member of your family's graduation from a SA, and you get up an leave because a politician does what most of them usually do? Regardless of your politics.....I think I would just sit and wait them out.
Congrats again to the Class of 2014 and their families!
Yup, agree with you there.
You can get up and move about, but you can't leave during the graduation. You are locked in until the air show has completed. I was there, there were rumbles, but from where I sat there were no "boos". I was down near field level, so virtually everything was behind me. It was very warm, but I would not have missed it for the world! I felt the beginning of the speech was better than the latter half of the speech. I tend to lean conservatively. I am glad we did not have the West Point speaker/speech.
I really wish we could just have a commencement speech with no political undertones.
Yea, that might be difficult if people are expecting the VP to be political, but definitely not impossible.
I'm with you. I didn't hear any booing, but a couple people literally laughed out loud at a couple of things Biden said that were clearly not meant to be funny. It was a warm day indeed (I've got the sunburn to prove it!), but that meant clear skies and beautiful weather for the grads! Despite the disappointing speech on Biden's part, it was cool to see the culmination of four year's effort from the grads!
Baildeydb and kdc246: I want to correct and augment my post. I didn't really hear "boos" - it was a poor choice of words and inaccurate. I meant to convey one thing and my choice of word conjured up another image. It was unintended and I apologize.
I was in the upper section. What I heard could be described as "rumblings", "murmors", "exclamations", "laughter", and "spirited discussion." It seemed to be equally spread throughout the stadium.
I did personally witness people leaving their seats and going up into the concourse area during the VP's speech. The guy in front of me and several others around my seat said they were doing so in protest. On the other hand - perhaps it was to get out of the intense sunlight. They all seemed to return after his speech concluded.
For me, it was a chance to see my first military academy graduation. It was a wonderful couple of days.
You must mean our PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES BARACK OBAMA.... A little respect is in order
