Congressional appointments to CGA

Ok, so I'm aware that congressional appointments aren't necessary for the CGA, but I have been told that you can still sometimes receive them. Has anyone heard about this? If so, is it worth the time and effort to get one specifically for the CGA or would the benefits be marginal?

I have never heard of congressional appointment to USCGA, but my congressman was willing to write a letter of recommendation for me to the academy.

There are no noms to CGA. So no.

And I wouldn't seek one, because they don't exist.
