Congressional Interviews

Just heard from Murray this afternoon- my packet materials have been received! Nothing about interviews or competitiveness/nomination potential.
We just heard from Murray this afternoon as well! No mention of interviews just that materials have been received. I wonder if the senators wait until the Congress members have extended their nominations. Last year my older son who is currently a Cadet at the Air Force Academy received The principal nomination from his Congress member, but wasn't even interviewed for either senator.

Has anyone received word from CA senator Harris? I called Feinstein office last week and found out I was rejected but haven’t heard anything from Harris.
Thank You.

Haven’t heard back from Harris either. Sent an email this morning asking about the status of their nomination process. I’ll let you know if I hear back.

No request for interview from Senator Harris yet.
An update for California applicants: Just got a call from Harris's office stating I have been selected for an interview for a nomination to USAFA! They stated the interview would be this Saturday. The call came from a (415) area code so be on the lookout for a call sometime this week.

Thanks for sharing. Good luck to you!

Hello fellow DS Ohioan. May I ask when Senator Brown informed of the interview? Nothing for DS from him yet. He does have interviews scheduled with Portman and Congressman Stivers.
And nerve-wracking is an understatement!
Thanks!
Just checking in to see how things are going? My DS completed all three of his interviews (much later than last year)... He received his NOM last year (in the mail) about this time - but I'm anticipating things to be a little delayed this year since interviews were pushed back. Continued thoughts and prayers for all the applicants and parents (we deserve more credit as I think this may be even more nerve-wracking for us).... <3

We just found out that our DD received the principle nomination from Senator Kamala Harris and due to that our local Congressman will no longer be interviewing her. Is that common? It appears that many candidates have nominations from both Senators and Congressman.
Yes, within a state the elected officials may decide to collaborate to, theoretically, “spread the wealth.” It’s their choice. They may decide to not dupe a name among them, or only put a name on one SA slate, even if the applicant is applying to multiple SAs.

Sometimes this is noted on their website, sometimes not.

So that sounds like a phone call was had, and not an email or a letter? The reason I say that is that it would be hard to actually state that the Congressman/woman interview was unilaterally cancelled and you would find that out by letter or email.

Easier to have that explanation over the phone? If so, then obviously you (or DS/DD) just said "Thanks!" and moved on with the principal nom?

Yes, that is the case. She spoke with both offices today.

Congrats to the DD!

Principal nom/3Q and there is no need for the other interview as she is in @ USAFA, LOA or not. At least this way, your congressman/woman can give another applicant (or several applicants) a shot. In a state like California as far as population, military families and qualified applicants go, getting 2 noms would likely be very difficult since two Senators cover 40 million people in a state that graduates 400k+ HS students per year.

The word has been historically that many CA MOCs coordinate with the Senators to try and make sure more applicants can be considered that way. The experience of your DD is indicative of that as the staff for Senator (VP Elect) Harris confirmed that was the case over the phone - principal nom or otherwise.

Quick question! I received a nomination from my District Representative and I didn’t have to interview. Does anyone know how common this is in NY?
