I am currently a junior in HS and was wondering when is the best time to apply for a congressional nomination ? Is it good to apply to as many Senators and Representatives as you can? Also, what are things you should be prepare for at an interview?

You should go to your Congressperson's and both Senators websites. There should be a section on each page that discusses their timelines for service academy nominations. Generally speaking, (as in my DD's) case, the process opens up in late spring/early summer and each MOC (Member of Congress) has their own specific deadlines established. Yes, it is very important that you apply to as many nominations as you are eligible for. At an absolute minimum you are looking at your Congressperson, both Senators, and the Vice President (info for this also available on line). You may be eligible for others (i.e. a Presidential, ROTC, etc.). Anyway, point is to apply for every nomination you are eligible for. You will be more competitive. Finally, how to prepare? My DD had two interviews (Senators), both about 15 minutes long, both focused on the why's of wanting to go to an academy, why she wanted to be a military officer, etc. In her case, just being called for the interview was a competitive process in itself as not all who submit a request for a nomination were called for an interview. (She is in Florida). In her case, she ended up with a Presidential nomination for USAFA and USNA (Dad is a retired USAF officer), a USNA nomination from Senator Rubio and a USNA nomination from her Congressman. She is one of the fortunate kids to have received an early appointment for the USAFA with the Presidential nom. Still waiting to hear from USNA. So, with all of that said, go ahead a cruise around this forum a bit, especially under the nominations thread where you will find many of your questions answered. Hope this helps. Best of luck to you!
