contact ALO in Junior Year?

I’m kind of late to this conversation, i’ve been busy relaxing in front of a fire and reading (snow day ). Sorry if this is way behind BUT I think it may be somewhat useful.

I contacted my ALO as a freshman in HS. Not that I would recommend it, but my ALO said it was good to start early, he was an incredible help, they’re there to help you. He got me into Civil Air Patrol (which is AWESOME:thumb:) and that’ll be big for leadership when applying. Ive been in a few months and I already have a bunch of leadership, and it’s really fun, especially Color Guard with competition coming up.

Don't worry, you're not late. :)
That's great to hear! I'm in the Civil Air Patrol too and I believe that it is helping me in all aspects of leadership and aerospace. It's encouraging that you contacted your ALO freshman year... it doesn't hurt at all to start early.

Is it bad that I never contacted my ALO or Liasion Officer after applying for SS? I gave my ALO a progress update about a week before I applied to SS (was waiting for report card to show up) and mentioned to him about my intention to apply but he never said anything about it. Should I send him another email and also contact my Liasion Officer as well?

Oops, Liasion Officer is the same as my ALO. Gee I'm dumb, I meant to say the USAFA contact when I say Liasion Officer

Are you talking about the two contacts on your Summer Seminar application?

just so you know... once you're at USAFA, don't tell a soul you were in Civil Air Patrol, lol. I'm proud of you guys for dedicating your time to doing that. Just don't talk about it much while at USAFA, at least for basic and your first year..

May I ask why? Lol.

Yeah I was
You should contact them both. That's what I did after I applied for the Seminar.

The USAFA Contact was nice to talk to... he gave me some general overall information on the Summer Seminar and the application.

The Local Liaison Officer, on the other hand, helped me a ton. We exchanged quite a few e-mails and eventually had a phone interview (which lasted for an hour!)
She asked me a bunch of questions and said I was very competitive for the Seminar (a few days later, I got accepted!) I also had the opportunity to ask her some questions.
I believe that she also wrote some kind of "recommendation" for my Seminar application, which was an outstanding plus :)

So yes, definitely contact them both. I suggest that you should contact them first through e-mail. Don't expect an immediate reply, though.

Did you already get accepted into the Seminar?

Actually I've already had a face to face meeting with my ALO. it's just that I never let him know that I completed my SS application and he never said anything about a recomendation, but he is probably busy right now. No I have not been accepted to SS, I'm still an "applicant under consideration". So contacting the USAFA contact is a good thing as well?

As for contacting your USAFA contact, by all means e-mail him or her. That is, if you have any questions that you need answered. It wouldn't hurt.

You should contact your Liaison Officer. You could ask something along the lines of "when does the rolling admission stop?" or "by looking at my resume, am I a competitive candidate in getting into the Seminar?" Your Liaison Officer shouldn't and most probably wouldn't get mad if you contact him about the Seminar.

How did you already meet with your ALO face to face? What did you talk about?

By the way, I really hope that you get into the Seminar.

a&w264 I would probably just contact him when you find news that you were either accepted or not. If you're accepted, its good to keep him up to date and he may have advice. If you don't, he can hopefully help give suggestions so you can strengthen your resume in the future

My counselor told me about him around November and I emailed him and a few weeks later he met with my parents and I at a starbucks and sort of gave a brief overview of the academy and gave me an informational folder with pamphlets and CFA requirement/ admissions requirements type things and answered all the questions I had. I have emailed him a few times giving him updates and asking questions but not since I sent in my SS application.
