Contacting my FFR but...

To what extent does reaching out to your field force representative help you along the admission process?

I have been in contact with mine since November of last year and it seems like he is in his 80s-90s... not that that's a bad thing but most of his replies involve him mentioning that his West Point experience is completely different from the current one.

Is there more than one representative in each district?
How can you work with your FFR besides just contacting about questions you have?

Sorry, this is a pretty loaded post with lots of questions

Your FFR will likely be the person conducting your interview, so in that sense the FFR is quite important. FFR's are alumni volunteers and some may have more time to respond to questions than others, but are usually a good source for general questions. A couple of weeks after completing the candidate questionnaire you should send an email to your FFR introducing yourself. Once contact is established there is no need for continuous contact unless you have specific questions that are not answered elsewhere.

The primary point of contact for critical or urgent matters is your RC. This is the admissions officer who will calculate your WCS score and has the most current/accurate information. I also recommend sending an introductory email to your RC.

Most RC's conduct candidate briefings that review the admissions process and provide an opportunity to meet the RC in person. After the presentation some RC's will also meet individually with candidates in the current application cycle and provide feedback on their file. Highly recommend attending one of these briefings - the dates/locations are usually posted on the website.

Not sure what you are looking to get from this person. If it’s information about the Academy, the application process, timeline etc... this person should be able to help you with all of that. If you feel they are not sufficiently responding to you with necessary information in a timely manner, that is different. You could then reach out to your RC. Just remember the FFR people are volunteers and are serving because they wish to help their candidates by providing the tools and information they need to complete their application and best compete for an Appointment.
If you are looking to better “connect” with a different FFR in hopes that they will increase your chances of Appointment due to friendship ...change your mindset. This person will not be able to do that for you. They may have influence however to see that a certain candidate does Not receive an offer of Appointment.

is an interview with the FFR part of the application? do they contact the candidate or?

It is part of the application. When my FFR did not email/call me for an interview around Jan 1st, I reached out to him and asked if he had time for an interview, since I wanted to have one before Jan. 31st. I eventually had the interview in mid January. So you may have to take the initiative and reach out to them and schedule an interview.

I apologize if my questions came off as me wanting to form a friendship with my FFR in order to increase my chances. I first reached out to my RC a few months ago with questions about admissions and he gave me my FFR contact information. Then I started asking him some questions I had about the West Point structure, just to gain an idea of the academy from alumni. I was just a little confused because I have heard from others that candidates should start "forming a relationship" with their FFR to ease into the interview stage, so I was just wondering if that is true and if so, how we can do that.
