My son accepted his appointment to USNA class of 2022. He just received a request for an officer interview for the NROTC scholarship. Is is appropriate to continue with the NROTC application (in case of injury before plebe summer)?

Very interested in seeing others response to this, as my DS has accepted his USNA appointment and I have been going round & round with him to complete his NROTC application before tomorrow's deadline- so that he has a backup plan B -He has applied to Duke, Vanderbilt and UF- Duke & Vanderbilt would only be an option with NROTC-

My recommendation would be to see your NROTC path through to the end. If commission is the ultimate goal, then by all means finish all that is needed for your NROTC application. A lot can happen between now and I-day and having another potential option is not a bad idea. Also, seeing something through to completion is a valuable lesson that will serve you well in all areas of life.
