I am a contracted scholarship cadet in AFROTC and I am applying to my community college to take a singular 3 credit class. It asks if I am currently a member of the US armed forces, would I click yes since as a contracted cadet?

Exact question:
Are you a current member or veteran of the US Armed Forces, or a dependent of a service member?

I just want to answer the question right I'm not looking for anything, I was thinking of just clicking no since we aren't active duty?

If you got sworn-in I think your status is inactive reserve. So, I would think you should check “yes”

I may be wrong here, but my guess is your college is looking to see if you are eligible for any type of government (VA, DOD, or other) assistance with expenses. Almost all schools now have "Military/Veteran Advisors" who assist students who are Active Duty, Reserve, or Dependents of AD, Reserve, or Veterans. As a "Contracted Cadet" I do not believe you fall into any of those categories, but your ROTC Command may be able to assist you better, and may be able to get ROTC to pick up the cost of the additional class if it meets certain guidelines.

If you have a CAC you are a service member. If you are a contracted ROTC CDT you are a member of the inactive-reseve. If you are asking for military benefits, then yes you technically receive them. You can open an account with USAA and receive certain military benefits (if you so choose to). It is, however, not necessarily encouraged to say you're a service member or receive military benefits since you aren't commissioned yet.
