Could a JROTC Nom hurt your chances?

The other day I had an interview for my congressman, I think I did good but I'm worried about one thing. Before my interview, a lady (not on the board) asked if I had any nominations or letters from USMA. I told her I had a JROTC nom and an LOE. How will these 2 affect their decision? My congressman is using principal nominations this year so will having an ROTC nom eliminate me right away even if I were to be the best candidate? Any insight is greatly appreciated.

If they want you, you just need a nom. Doesn't matter from where. If you have a nom, you have what you need to win an appointment. Sure, having more than one nom allows for it to be slated a different way, which gives them another option, but if you have a nom from ANY source, and they want you, you will be appointed.

Thanks for the reply! but wouldn't a principle nom+3Q guarantee an appointment unlike an ROTC nom+3Q?

I guess, but in the end, if they want you, you just need a nom. It doesn't sound like there is much you can do about it either way. Control what you can control. Work on your other plans (B, C, D, etc), work out and get in the best shape of your life, and enjoy time with your family. Worrying about whether you have a better nom or not, when you can do nothing about it, is going to drive you crazy.

@USMA222 With all that being said, continue to pursue all Noms you are eligible for, but continue to have integrity when asked if you already have a nom in hand. I didn't want you to think I was saying that you should just be done, just that it sounded like you did all you could do in that interview to earn an additional nom, and be honest about the one you have. Good luck! I'm rooting for you!
