Maybe this is just me being paranoid, but my portal hasn't changed since accepting my appointment in December (I have uploaded all proper documents and mailed in records check). At which point will we get to choose our desired courses/get our schedule or does that even happen before I-day? I know plebes are mandated to complete certain courses, but I was wondering if you get to choose electives or something.

I figured it would be around this time but maybe it's right around the corner and I'm just being impatient...

Happens during PS. You will take some placement exams once you get your PTR, and other exams are offered during the summer. After that, you meet with academic advisors to set your schedule.

Don't overthink this. They know what they're doing. ;)

Got it and thank you!

If you have relevant AP scores, test well on the placement, etc., then you have more options open to you as some classes can be validated/skipped. Otherwise, you will take a very similar course load Plebe year.

See link below. The first year is pretty much set, with some variation depending on any validations. You can review your required courses and majors courses down the road, all on usna.edu.

You are in good shape. Focus on finishing this last school year well, work on your conditioning and fitness and appreciate family and friends. In less than 90 days, your dream will come true, the pattern of your life will change, and you will return as a visitor to your childhood home for short periods over the next minimum 9 years.

Roger that. Thank you ma’am!

You will take some placement tests during PS. You will sleep through them... at least that's what I did. I suggest trying to validate the class if you think you can, if not it's okay! everyone generally starts at the same place. During PS, you meet with an academic advisor for 2 hours in small groups to see where you are. during the fall semester, you have like literally no choice over what classes you take, no electives. I got put in many classes I would have rather not taken (honors English because I did well on the English test during plebe summer, I do not like reading). Good luck!

Ah, good to know. Thanks!

I'm in the same boat as you. The PTR should come sometime this month (maybe early May), I try not to think about it as it seems it comes slower the more I think. If you really can't help yourself (like me), you can check out last year's important information document, which I believe comes in the PTR packet. Gives you a glance of what to expect, but can't really get too ahead just in case of document changes.
