If you sit for a Validation test during Plebe summer and pass, do you have to accept the validation or can you choose to take the class anyway? Reason I ask is that DS is pretty decent at Chemistry, but never had a Chemistry lab due to COVID and his HS Junior year being remote. So I am thinking he should decline the validation if it happens and just take Chemistry.

He can decide. But if he validates, he is much better than decent!

Yes you can choose to decline. There are several threads that deal with the pros and cons of declining. IMHO take the validation if you can get it as it opens alot of doors.
