Does anyone know if the USNA is still requiring the Covid vax for cadets? I know a Navy board recently ruled that it was not a legal requirement for a particular serviceman (Lt. Moseley) since the only fully approved Pfizer vax, Comirnaty, is not available in the US. I called Pfizer and they also said that this vax is not available in the US. Does anyone know about this? I responded to a conversation with this question but wanted to put it here for more replies. Thanks much!

USNA will follow Navy policy for COVID vaccination and other required vaccinations for incoming midshipmen (no cadets).

Without going into details, that board is a routine administrative proceeding at a lower level to determine if an officer is guilty of misconduct such that it would lead to separation. The board’s findings and recommendation must then travel up the chain of command to senior decision and policy levels in the service, for final determination. That one proceeding does not set service policy.

According to what our daughter received …NAPS instructs that you must report with your Covid vaccination card in hand on I-Day. I would assume USNA would be no different.

Concur with CaptMJ. The PTR states it is mandatory. Remember, your son or daughter is not in the military yet…if they don’t meet the mandatory entry requirements, USNA can turn them away at the front door.

Strange, you asked the exact same question a couple of days ago in another thread:

The answer has not changed. The Navy as do the other services, requires the COVID VAX. The LOCAL COMMAND Admin Discharge Board's RECOMMENDATION still does not set a precedent in any way.

Oh, and USNA does not have Cadets, it has Midshipmen.

Thanks for responses. I am new to this so, forgive my use of cadets.
Also, as I said in my post, I DID post this in a conversation. A friend who is more familiar with this site, recommended that I may get more information as a post.

Considering that the technology of these jabs,, the speed of their development and government policy around them is unprecedented, I think critical thinking and questioning about them should be welcomed here and met without sarcasm and hostility. Still, I support everyone's right to express themselves.
Thank you all for your responses, and for this who served. thank you for your service.

Good point. Thank you.

Could an appointee be immediately turned away on I-Day if unvaccinated against Covid-19? Given some of the paperwork in the PTR, it seems as if they’re preparing to handle Covid-19 like other mandatory vaccinations and administer a dose on site to anyone who doesn’t have proof of prior receipt. However, in some places on this forum and in the instructions for other SAs, it’s suggested that those who do not meet the Covid-19 vaccination requirement are turned away. Of course, being prepared to show up with all requirements met is the best approach in this situation. I’m just curious. Thanks.

I-Day, or any time during your time at USNA is not the time to challenge the system. You will get shots at USNA, and won't be given the choice (and many times, I didn't even know or care what it was ....I just wanted to get back to sleep). There's always that guy that wants to challenge policy, even if you win -- you will lose in the end.
