Current doolie

When you first applied how confident were you about getting in?
I can't speak for OP, but I was probably a bit too confident. Fortunately, it all worked out in the end, but if I could go back I would ensure that I had good plan B's in place so as not to have all my eggs in one basket.

How are the cadets like at USAFA and how do they treat you? Also, what was the weakest area of your application and your strongest?

I will not send my son to the USAFA if he cannot Doordash 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

there's a subway and domino's, and golf carts that deliver to stairwells. but i'm not sure what access doolies get to those
Thank you for your reply, I was joking because believe me, we never used Doordash! haha

Do cadets wear a pilot badge if they have a pilot's license?

Do SATs and ACTs have more of an impact on an application rather than your GPA?

What are some training/traveling/immersion options cadets can participate in during the summer sessions or spring break?

I've found the USAFA Academy Admissions Instagram account to be really helpful! They have a Q&A and Q&A Part 2 which goes through TONS of info, including travel abroad opportunities. Check it out!

Will do. I was looking through the cadet handbook and found a lot of information which answered my question.

This is a great comment! Often it's dry boring reading until you have an actual question. I found the appointee and parent handbooks to be very useful, answering most of my questions when I actually had them. Use them as reference guides! Good job @SA2026hopeful ! I splurged and printed both in color, and put them in a binder one upside down from the other. Used it all my DD's first year.

Hopefully our thread poster will come back to answer some questions!

My DD 2024 rising 3C year: did 1 block leave, 1 block jump (this is airmanship, so you could get jump, soaring, powered flight; one, none, or more than one), and ILT (which was powerpoints and then the high/low ropes course and 44 hour challenge). This summer (rising 2C year) she is expecting 1 block leave, 1 block Cadre, 1 block operational rotation. I don't think they will know anything for still some time. Seems each year there are changes and never the exact same YOY. Depending on your particular situation such as D1 sports, major/programs, on probation that precludes you from airmanship, etc, it could be different. But these are the main 3 blocks for her class.

Same with winter/spring breaks. Depends on your Cadet, what programs, and their preferences. Mine enjoyed meeting with fellow Cadets and doing things with them instead of returning home for the full time. This year she will go to NYC for Spring Break, but come back early for a club competition the last weekend of spring break.
