Current Plebe - AMA

A good resource for many of these inquiries is in the Academy document titled “Logging In”. This document is issued to entering individuals a few months before reporting date and offers a wealth of useful information. The version for the Class of 2025, the most current I could find is at Logging In Class of 2025. Although Logging In 2025 was issued in 2021, the content is still reasonably accurate. Obviously some things change, like the cost of various required items.

I asked around today about this. The average seems to be around $40-45 a day when at sea. Training ships seem to be the only unpaid assignment.
46 CFR § 310.60 - Training on subsidized vessels will pretty much sum up what you will get during sea year. On examination you will see you get the same as other Academies, which for Annapolis in June 2023 was $1,273.20 monthly. You should go back to my previous post with the link to the Logging In document to acquaint yourself with the finances.

By the way, in my day, a long time ago, the pay was $111.15 a month but fortunately when you went ashore the Chief Engineer or 1A/E would throw me another $10 or $20.

I think I read somewhere about a minor in cybersecurity or a double major? Do you know anyone that's currently going this route?

You can do a cybersecurity concentration which is basically just 3 extra classes. And there is no double major.
