Current USMAPS 2022 - Ask Anything

Congrats to everyone that has accepted an appointment for USMAPS 2023 and those that will accept in the weeks to come! USMAPS is a unique pathway to West Point that will strengthen you in many ways. I am a current Prepster (2022) and prior-enlisted soldier here at USMAPS and would be happy to help answer any questions about CCBT, re-application process, life at Prep, leadership, etc.
Shoot away with any questions!
Hi, my son has a LOA to USMAPS and has completed is full application. But he just got DQ'd medically. Does WP automatically submit a waiver request for USMAPS LOA recipients like they do for USMA LOA recipients?

Could you explain the process for being accepted for MAPS? For example, would a candidate find out they are "not appointed" for WP, their application be closed and THEN they receive notification of prep? Or would the application stay open until notification of Prep recommendation? Also, is it safe to assume you must be medically qualified or fully qualified? I have been in regular contact with my Field Force Officer, he is not as familiar with this side of the process and working to gather some additional details.
Apologies for the delay - I haven't checked SAF in a while with all the academics here. For most people, candidates received an updated on their Candidate Portal that they were not fully qualified (3Q - academics, physical, medical, etc.) and they later received a USMAPS appointment. In my case, I received no official denial document, but I did get an LOA to USMAPS. If someone is at Prep, it's almost always that they are not 3Q. It's good that you're maintaining comms with your Field Force Rep, they'll definitely be able to help you out once they learn the process for Prep more. Let me know if you have any additional questions too now that we're approaching the summer.

Congrats to your son on the LOA and sorry to hear about the DQ. I honestly do not know too much about the waiver process - I have your son keep in close contact with his Field Force Rep and/or Admissions Officer to get more info on that. I do know that a fair amount of CCs at USMAPS are DQ'd medically but receive an appointment after their Prep School time.

Hi!
This is super last minute but I’m going to USMPAS for family weekend and am trying to figure out the dress code I need to follow. I know there’s some sort of ceremony. What is the common type of attendee dress for this??? Thank you!
